Last spring I had a friend who was a freshman here so I spent the night in her dorm, met her friends, attended classes, etc. I liked it MUCH better than admit weekend, which I also attended. (I wanted to actually have time to make a decision so I visited schools during my spring break) You can still sit in on classes, eat at the dining hall, talk to students, etc. Most students are pretty friendly and will be willing to answer questions. When you visit classes, go ahead and ask students around you if you can ask them a couple of questions about Stanford. The students I talked to were all happy to answer my questions and all agreed that I should choose Stanford over the other schools I was considering. Also, if you want to see a dorm, just tell at student who is entering/leaving the dorm that you are a profro and ask if you could see what the dorms here look like. There's a lot of variation, but it might give you some idea what your dorm could look like. My advice is just to ask a lot of people a couple of questions so you'll get an idea what Stanford is all about. You can go on the tours and info sessions too.

margirl--Thanks. There is an official visit program for those who can't attend Admit Weekend. It is not the same but it seems there might be some pros in addition to cons. Is there anything that just shouldn't be missed?
