Everybody I know who's been accepted at ND in the past few years has been an athlete.
So: do you have to do sports to have a realistic chance of getting in? (I hope not...let's just say my hand-eye coordination isn't fabulous...:P)

You do not have to be an athlete to get in, you don’t even have to like athletics to fit in… but it helps.

i know someone who doesn’t do sports, yet is very intelligent and got in.

My daughter never played any sports. She will be a junior at ND. However, I do think that you have to excel in some area as far as leadership, service etc. Put that together with a superior academic record, solid test scores and a great essay and you should have a decent shot. Wishing you the best of luck!

You absolutely Do Not have to be an athlete! Our student never played a sport in HS. momtofour is correct–our student does try to participate in a club sport now at ND, but many times the academics have been too demanding to be at every practice/game.

No, you don’t have to be an athlete.

But you should be well-rounded. A majority of ND students have been involved in varsity athletics at one time or another in their hs careers, but it doesn’t mean that you have to. Any activities, talents, will be recognized

Thanks for the responses and advice; I appreciate them!
