Am I doomed?

I sent in my application for Dartmouth on Wednesday and I had an email for a college interview on Thursday. I didn't respond to it until like tonight because I didn't have time to go on my e-mail. I just replied to the email a few minutes ago. And then, after I sent the e-mail, I realized the interviewer called my phone at 6:00 pm and I also didn't pick up the call since I always put my phone on silent mode because I don't use my cell phone at home and I don't want any accidental ringers going out during school. Am I not getting an interview now??? I am freaking out right now. They might write I refused an interview!!!!

As quoted from the Dartmouth interviewer page: "If you don't hear back from an applicant after reaching out to set up the interview, feel free to try a different mode of communication or a second e-mail or phone call. If after a second attempt the student does not respond, please make a note that the candidate did not respond to your invitation and move on to the next candidate."

I mean, she only gave me one day to respond and aren't interview invitations supposed to be sent out like a week later not like less than 24 hours after I sent in my app??? I am freaking out, somebody help me!!!

Calm down (did that help?). You sent an email in reply to her email, so you did, in fact, respond. If you have not heard back by Monday, call admissions at Dartmouth and tell them what happened. It is in their best interest to have a face-to-face to get to know you better and to have the chance to further sell you on Dartmouth. I doubt they are trying to “check the box” if you are responsive.

It’s not a cat-and-mouse game. They sincerely want to talk to you. I’m sure at some time they needed to issue guidance to their volunteers so they wouldn’t feel guilty for not conducting the interview. Give it until Monday mid-day, then plan to call admissions. Meanwhile, enjoy the weekend!

Whew, just got the email that she was ok with it and everything will go as planned. Almost thought I wouldn’t get an interview anymore.

geez an. you’re gonna get an ulcer. Colleges aren’t your enemies or interrogators. They WANT to speak with you, not mark you as a bad kid. They actually WANT to admit you – remember that.
