There must have been some mishaps - wrong directions, needing to stop for gas, flat tire, etc. that separated the teams by so much. We usually see that.
Is it me or has it been pretty boring thus far. Loved the fact that they went to Petra but the challenges seemed tame. And the results so predictable. And you just know that they are trying really hard to make the ending seem more dramatic than it is. It feels very watered down…
Many agree with you that the show needs to make some changes to make it more interesting. Here is an article that highlights fan suggestions from a Reddit thread.
Wow, thanks for that link. Until I read it I hadn’t realized just how much it had changed. I forgot about the money aspect and certainly miss the airport drama. And the U-turns add to the interpersonal drama. Definitely need to go back to so.me of the old ways.
I agree with the article that they should start based on the time they arrived, rather than in groups. They used to do that after an overnight stay in a country. Team one left 7 min before team 2, who left 27 min before team 3. There were points in the race where a challenge was closed until 8 am and they camped outside, leading everyone to start at the same time again. Showing that helped tell the story of the race. I understand the temporary use of charter flights but make that part of the story.
I think the reason they are giving the cast maps is because they are limiting the interaction they have with locals. Every time someone asks for directions, everyone needs to be COVID tested (including crew). As we saw in the previews, someone tests positive so it was a legitimate concern.
And a signed release.
The episode was good. The right team went home. I think if I were to go on Survivor or AR I would practice slide puzzles. I am sure Covid had a huge impact on what they could and couldn’t do. Hopefully next year (do we know if we have a next year?) will be better.
Yeah, I’m not caring for the group departures. I almost forgot that they used to get $$ to last legs of the race!
The dad and daughter - I loved how he kept emphasizing “we finished what we started”.
Derrick and Claire sure made up some ground.
The couple whose name you’re mentioning above- I’m not sure who that is? The orange couple, married?
Actually when Phil says someone tests positive for Covid I wondered if it was the orange husband/wife. They were the only ones I noticed riding in the car unmasked.
Yes, the tall woman and shorter husband.
I can’t say I’m glad the father/daughter were eliminated, but I’m not surprised. She lost her momentum in the previous leg and they seemed to be just going through the motions. I’m worried about the sister’s thigh muscle, and about who tested positive for Covid and how that’s going to play out. The setting in Jordon was beautiful and interesting but I agree those tasks were super super boring. Even if restricted in where they could go they could have made the tasks more interesting. I wonder if there’s a back story and they couldn’t get approval for things they wanted to do. I agree some changes made even before Covid made the show less exciting than in the wild early days. Although even with the start times based on arrival times they needed to have points where everyone caught up because otherwise there was little suspense of who would make it to the final leg. I miss the $ and the airports and the getting lost. But the world also isn’t what the world was back in 2001 (?) or thereabouts when the show started.
Yes, especially after that over-the-top arrival scene with the Jordan people on horses and camels! It was sort of downhill after that!
This week should be telling. I imagine if someone has Covid then that couple will be OUT.

The Amazing Race moves to the post-Survivor timeslot starting next week. 9 pm Eastern. The Real Love Boat is moving to Paramount+
The building the cart challenge was weak. Half of the teams ended with their carts in pieces. Should have been a requirement that they had to include a load of something on the cart – maybe some local oranges or other round items that would cause chaos if spilled.
Derick and Claire not as smart as they portray themselves when they missed the instruction that they can do the alphabet by team. Derick could have avoided the rolling rrr.
I do like that the couples don’t seem to bicker with each other this season.
Funny I thought when I watched tonight that there seemed to be little fighting/bickering!
Did Derrick and Claire claim to be especially smart? You could note that even professional dancers didn’t dance correctly on the first try….
Yes, I thought it should have been a requirement that they bring the cart there in one piece. Would have made it more interesting.
The brothers were smarter on the alphabet challenge. The location was beautiful - would love to visit one day.
Good episode. Map skills for the win! I really like the couple that got eliminated. I hope they have started a family like they wanted to. I think the driving must have been so stressful!
Boo on elimination
One of my faves, though I like all the teams left.
Amazing that the brothers and twins could pass the other teams and get back to 1st and 2nd place.
