But enjoyed the episode.
Looked like there was a critical fork with multiple signs. The brothers (especially the tank driver) have experience driving nongrid winding European roads and using maps.
I liked the newlyweds G/L too. They really kept things positive and were good sports.
I still think they all scaled down that building and solved the name/flag puzzle pretty quick.
The couple that left were so likeable. I too hope their is a new family member in their very near future! “ We are working on it, as we speak”!
I like them too. Early on I read someone describing them as Leslie Jones and Kevin Hart and now I can’t unsee that. I just read this interview with them and read their meet/proposal story on their website they mention in the interview. Looks like they were “meant to be.” Their website and apparently youtube follows their journey to build their family.

Covid protocols really impacted this season. I agree that starting in groups is less fair and the U turns and yields made for some better competition between teams.
I thought the repelling challenge was good, although once they knew which names/flags they needed the task was pretty easy.
I actually like all the teams. Was sorry G&L went home, but they were not the strongest team. Was interesting how they handled the losing team, since nobody had to be eliminated.
I was watching Derek & Claire on You Tube and they said that navigation was a crucial part of the race. They said that you could bomb a challenge but if you could successfully navigate, you would do fine. One of the maps only had hwy numbers and all of the street signs were names directing you to a town. Teams had to look for the town and trace back to which hwy to take.
Although they showed the twins in a parking garage, they didn’t show how far off course they were. They must have been pretty bad because two teams passed them. And I didn’t understand why the eliminated team ended up behind those barricades. Did they come from a different direction?
Yes those barricades were weird, especially as the team figured out how to get someone to lower them!
Certainly navigation hurt some teams. Overall, a decent episode.
The location this week looked amazing - I often watch as a way of finding places I’d like to visit, and that’s one!
I wanted to do the brick challenge, that’s something I can do well.
I hope the twin with the hurt leg isn’t doing terrible damage to it & that she can get some better support.
I liked the team that was eliminated
I liked the location this week but would not have wanted to navigate it. I think I would have struggled with the poem challenge. I loved the flare the cheerleader gave to the rugby challenge. I am sad that one of the twins is injured and next week’s previews don’t look much better.
Memorize 6 lines of poetry vs laying bricks?? That’s a no-brainer for me. Unless there was some strange editing, the former would have taken me 5 minutes at most.
Actually only 3 lines per person. Ski you could do that in 2.5 min at most! It would have been harder for some if they had to get the accents right.
I could have done the poetry if it had been Spanish or Italian, but French pronunciation & I don’t get along -
And I would have been the person who forgot the first line by the time I got to the second person. I’m horrible at memorizing. The bricks would totally have been quicker for me. Following a pattern is one of my better skills.
I read an interview with Mattie and Quinton and they said it was totally navigation that messed them up throughout and they would have been still in it and won if it were based on the challenges [paraphrasing]. Also, before they got stuck in that plaza Quinton was pulled over supposedly for speeding (he didn’t think he was) and that delayed them 45 minutes, and there were two routes to get there and they picked the wrong one. The rugby challenge of kicking the field goal (?) was amusing in a Charlie Brown sort of way.
Drop kick
They seemed pretty forgiving on the pronounciation imo. I wonder how far apart the locations were to learn each part…if they had to walk/run a mile to get each line…that could take some time.
Just finished, good episode. Enjoyed seeing Derrick and Claire get the win. I appreciate that they appreciate - not expect - the win.
So with the rugby kick- did they have to drop it? I did not understand how so many of them flubbed it up over and over again!
Also hoping that the twins can survive the ones injury. They get so little time to rest.
Toulouse is gorgeous, no surprise as southern France is heaven on earth!
I think the ball needed to hit the ground, point down, which seems harder than kicking it before it hit the ground.
Correct. As I mentioned earlier, this is known as a drop kick. Kicking before hitting the ground is a punt.
I thought last night’s episode was pretty boring. What is the purpose of the mega-legs? Does it really make things more difficult?
Did anyone else notice that the contestants couldn’t hug the people who helped with the picture challenge? Several looked like they wanted to but then backed off.
I think they tried to make the fish frying look more challenging than it was. Paddle boarding looked tough.
