To me the megalegs are basically the same as non-elimination legs (except the winners halfway through the megaleg don’t get a prize). And there is less drama because Phil doesn’t get to tell the last couple to arrive at a non-elimination leg (and the TV audience) that they are still in the race.
I wonder if they were trying to avoid having one team benefit from more than one non-elimination leg.
I definitely noticed it. Based on the travel during Covid thread Spain seems to have strict air and public transportation policies (masking) so maybe TAR said “no touching”
I think AR, like other reality shows, are getting a little stuck because of shortened seasons (?). For instance Survivor is what, 26 days on the island instead of the original 39??? Amazing Race has altered travel and I know much of this is because of COVID but it takes a toll on the show.
As someone who watched Big Brother I have been so pleasantly surprised at Derick and Claire and the relationship that is at least being portrayed on the show. They seem to really support each other and both admit to their faults. They are trying to play smart.
Really the twins and Derrick and Claire are the only two teams I really feel attached to and am rooting for. I feel like the other mixed couple teams are in my mind all just put in the category of “dancers” - lol!!! I am worried that the one twin isn’t going to make it with her leg AND I hope she is not creating a bad situation for her leg! I’m assuming medical would cut her off competing at some point if she was putting her leg in danger of really getting messed up.
I like all the teams still, although the twins are my favorite. I’m amazed the military brothers are still in it because they seem to have a lot of issues with missing the most basic things. Of all the height, tight spaces, super physical challenges I’m sure I couldn’t do, I was laughing at the women who couldn’t stick a skewer through a little fish. I baited many fishing hooks for my kids while my husband was doing his own fishing and if I could stick those worms I’m sure I could skewer fish.
Was sorry to see the brothers go, as they were generally a good team that got really stuck on the first part of the megaleg. They were a bit arogant, but likeable. Interesting to see two teams working so closely together. Guessing that will stop on tomorrow’s episode, with only 4 teams left.
Just started watching last night’s episode - did anyone else notice the (separated at birth) twins (on the ice mountain climb) say “thank you” in unison, and with the identical inflection? It literally made me cry. I have a friend who is a twin & she and her sister do that all the time, even though they live 3,000 miles apart, and have for 50 years! Back to it…
I was more surprised that he had contacts. I guess he planned ahead that there might be times when glasses would impede, but then you thought he would have practiced.
I HATE cold water and probably wouldn’t have lasted more than 2 minutes, even for a million $$. I hope the twins win it all but I’m afraid the hurt one will have to spend her half getting her knee repaired. I also think Derek and Claire, who I like a lot more now than I did after the yodeling, will win.
RIght. I sometimes feel bad when one team gets taken out this late in the game for their weakness - clearly swimming/water was for the eliminated team. It’s hard to be good at everything!
Usually, knowing how to swim is a necessity for Survivor, not TAR (knowing how to drive stick is a TAR necessity). What’s next, a fire-making road block??
But I think it was more fair than some of the other challenges this year. They all had to figure out how to drive the jeepy thing, and then the challenge was physical and mental. Two groups figured it out in one pass, two had to do it twice.
I think some of the other other challenges this year were so easy that if a team screwed up just a little, they couldn’t catch up.
