American Eagle/Hollister/etc. popular in college?

everyone just go with j crew

This is the correct response.

Ralph Lauren dominates J Crew what are you talking about....DIONTE CHRISTMAS has the same black hoodie as me with the red icon.

Seriously, A&F and Hollister(also aeropostle which makes you look cheap, imo) are bad enough. American Eagle's fine, but what I hate about all of them are the ugly graphic tees that have the store's name plastered all over it. Wearing those clothes make you look like middle schoolers. If you want to look preppy, go for j crew, lacoste, ralph lauren and calvin klein etc.

I'm too much of a poor college student to shop at A&F and Hollister lol. I have some polos from AE from high school, that I wear sometimes, but I don't buy clothes from there for myself now.
I see people wearing this kind of stuff in college, but it's mostly just the lower years, freshman and sophomores. I think people probably wear the jeans and pants from there no matter what year though, but I don't like the fit of them myself. Most of the fratty types here wear Ralph Lauren, Lacoste... Practically all of them wears Northface or patagonia jackets too.
I tease this guy I dated because he wears alot of hollister stuff, but he used to work there in high school so like, a ton of his clothes are from there because of that.

Ehh, not with me. I bunch AE, A&F, Hollister with Longchamps & UGGs. They're all FUG wear. Add Ed Hardy and those other bedazzled skeleton/tattooo lines to that group too.

I prefer to go with classics like Ralph Lauren & Burberry.

A lot of college students wear that stuff, but I personally don't like the styles. I either like the classics or generic stuff.

Yes, I do.

so express, j crew, etc. are more popular?

Haha! Yeah, those UGG boots are the worst things I have ever seen. All those fluffy boots, of any kind, look rather ridiculous. If you want to wear them, at least make it look sensible. Check the weather!

And those Ed Hardy tees can be an eye sore. Too much!

My gosh, some of you guys are crazy with the way you evaluate what other people wear. other people probably think your burberry and ralph lauren is overpriced and pretentious looking.

what's wrong with Ugg boots? I have to admit I don't own a pair, but I have tried them on, and they are so comfy, like sinking your feet into fuzzy little pieces of heaven. they are a bit overpriced though - minnetonka sells similar boots for less, and are less "fluffy looking". Well I own Ugg slippers which I wear around the house and those are too comfy, and so warm in the winter.

I don't know why people insist on wearing the graphic T's with the name brand in giant letters, but whatever. I generally wear clothes that are simple, feminine, clean-cut and not overly bright or flashy. if it fits, covers your naughty bits, keeps you warm and comfy, you're good to go :)

At my college, Hollister and A&E are still worn, just not by as many kids that are in, say, high school. I personally don't like those brands, and I never have. I owned a few pairs of jeans from Hollister, and they were very bad quality.

But I'm just not into those stores in general. The only "teen chain store" I'll shop at sometimes is Hot Topic, but only for the band merch, because I don't like ordering online. Sometimes if I see something I like at a department store, like Macy's or Dillards or something, I'll buy it. Really, if I see something I like anywhere I'll buy it, I'm not brand picky.

In general, though, I like to shop at vintage stores. Not necessarily thrift stores, but stores that specialize in vintage clothing, 1980s and before. I really like that whole 40s/50s rockabilly look, and it's hard to find clothing like that anywhere else.

I do hate UGGs though. Like, A LOT. If you wear them... fine. I won't. Ever. I don't really care what other people wear, though. It's not me in that outfit, so it doesn't affect me at all.

Falseeeeeeee :P

LOL @ getting offended when UGG boots are brought up. Wear what you like. I'm not Andre Leon Talley. I think they look ridiculous. That shouldn't make anyone who likes them second-guess themselves. If I think they look like Toyota Prius on people's feet, then so be it.

I'm not buying them lol.

stargazerlilies, the thing about clothes is that you can usually nail the personality/attitude of a person. When it comes to shoes, that can sometimes be a better indicator. It's superficial, but c'est la vie.

I don't say I choose who to socialize with based on their clothes/shoes, or that I ignore and stay away from certain people because of what they wear, but I tend to socialize better/have the same personality with people who tend to like certain styles. It's "uninstitutionalized" segregation; you just "naturally" see this in lots of place.

random, I'm not getting offended by your not liking uggs lol...but the comments about labeling people are "dbags" for wearing certain things and stuff...it seems so middle school.

psycho, fair enough. we all judge people by what they wear, because we see the outside before we get to know them. You're right when you say you can often pick up someone's attitude by what they're wearing, and when I see someone draped in Burberry and Ralph Lauren looking down on others for wearing common clothing, I pick up on that attitude as well :p

to each his own, I guess.

Ralph Lauren does rule all.

I can't say that I've seen anyone wear any of that. It seems like everyone here wears one of three things:

High-end designer clothes
College sweatshirts
and those in science majors tend to wear business suits or khakis and a Polo.

I don't think I've seen anyone wear A&E or Hollister since high school; then again, I don't usually spend much time analyzing what people are wearing, provided they aren't naked.

If you need to be an instant D bag whip at an abrocrombie or hollister polo gel your hair and pop your collar, if you don't feel like enough of a duche yet, get some flamer sunglasses.

I see them sometimes. Lacoste and Polo are just as popular, if not more

No at least not at my college. I look very young so avoid those brands (besides AE's jeans) at all costs; I want people to look and treat me like I'm an adult. Sure I loved those brands in high school but in college now I wear more grown up clothing from not just one retailer.
