Do UC's have the American Institutions requirement? I just got dropped from my Bi term History class that I was doing for this requirement. It doesn't show up at all on IGETC, but my counselor told me I needed to take it for the UC's. I did do the year requirement in HS, but I went to an OOS HS so I'm not sure how that will work. Also, I took Political Science at CC, but not History. If I get recinded over a history class I'm going to be seriously bummed.

I don’t even know what the American Institutions requirement was until I saw it on my UCI admissions page. Im guessing its just like a gov class or something?

You’re not going to get rescinded over it because you didn’t tell them you were taking a history class, so they know you didn’t take it. But you probably will have to take it at the UC.

You can check to see if your CC offers any courses for this requirement by:
-Going to Assist.org
-Selecting your CC and UC Berkeley
-Selecting “American Cultures Graduation Requirement” under the ‘Majors’ drop-down list.

I did tell them I was going to take it. I can take it in summer I just wasnt sure if my igetc wouldn’t be complete and would result in me being rescinded. I have the emails from the teacher saying I couldn’t afford the book till I got paid and he dropped me. Although maybe my highschool stuff will work.

Irregardless of whether your HS course meets the requirement, if you listed this course as one you were scheduled to take at your CC in your formal update to the UCs but do not finish it by the end of spring term you are going to have to explain to them why you did not complete the course. The UCs will be expecting to see a grade for this course when they receive your final transcript from your CC and compare it to the list of classes you submitted to them that you were intending to take by Spring.
