American University Spring Transfer

Hey guys, this is my first post so I apologize if this isn't in the right forum or anything.

I'm currently a freshman at a small liberal arts school in New England. I wasn't really sure what I wanted in a college so I just applied to schools in the area and that were somewhat like my high school. Now that I've been to college for a little bit, I realize what I would really like in a school. American University seems to fit this exactly. I was originally going to wait until the end of the year to try and transfer, but I'd obviously like to be there as soon as possible.

High school:Private school in New England
3.0 gpa (I didn't care about my grades at first but then began to near the end of high school)
Terrible test scores
Not too much for extra activities, mostly just sports with a club here and there

College: Small liberal arts school in New England.
3.6 gpa as of now, looking to bump that up a significant amount
Member of a community service club

Unfortunately this is about all I've got. Do you think i have an alright shot at American University? Is it more difficult to transfer spring semester vs fall, or does it not really matter?

Thank you

i know this is a year late, but did you end up getting accepted?
