Ok so I have been browsing around the forums a lot looking for information on housing, and while I've found a lot of information, none of it really answered some of my questions.

I am an incoming freshman engineer. Even though engineering classes are on North campus I really want to stay on Central. The housing form that we have to fill out only gives you the choice between Central/hill, Bursely, or baits. This being said, I also really do not want to end up at baits. Fellow CC posters, do you think I should put central/hill as my first choice and Bursely as my second and hope I don't get Baits or do you think I should put Bursely as first choice and stay safe? Do you have any other recommendations on what I should do? Please let me know!

I would stay on North Campus if I were you. It really stinks waking up early each day and taking a bus in the cold Michigan winters over to North Campus. Then just to get home, you have to take ANOTHER bus back to your dorm to eat, sleep, or do other things. With that said, all the action is on Central Campus so if you're ok with taking a bus to class everyday and living far away from your buildings, I see no reason why you shouldn't be on Central.

You have exactly the right idea to want to live on Central Campus. I was a freshman engineer this year and 1st semester I only went to North 2 times a week, 2nd semester I went 3 times a week. I picked Central/Hill 1st, Bursley 2nd, and Baits 3rd and I ended up in Markley. The Hill area is perfect because it's on Central Campus but it's also the last bus stop before North so it only takes about 10 minutes to get up to North Campus. I don't understand why the previous poster is so against the buses...they run on time and are heated in winter...nothing to worry about! You would have to take the bus down to Central every day anyhow if you lived on North. Definitely put Central/Hill as your first choice! You might still get stuck in Bursley, but if Bursley is your 2nd choice, you probably won't end up in Baits.
