Another Plimpton Question...Cable!

I would really like to have Time Warner Cable Service set up in my room in Plimpton this year but was told by the company that I must set it up through the College. Do any past Plimpton residents or parents of residents know how this works? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I assume this is for entertainment purposes as you already have high speed connections in all of the rooms. Do you really want to admit this openly in a forum frequented by so many parents?
Seriously, I don't know if you can.

ummmm, weelllll,
when d moved in last year, she did bring her TV so she could watch some shows every now and then. Her plan was to just use an antenna to watch "network" shows (main interest was "Gilmore Girls"). THere was a cable laying on the floor, so we plugged it in to her TV, just to see what happened. It worked.

sometimes you just get lucky, I guess.

Sorry this is no help to the OP, though.

When they say "set it up through the college," I'm assuming that they want you to wait until move in week when they'll have their Time Warner reps at a table stationed in front of Barnard Hall or the Plimpton Lobby. Each year they do a "student promotion" that is really sort of a rip off (You're forced to pay for a DVR box which is $20 more than what you'd pay for a standard cable box).

You make an appointment and they'll send someone over to do the install. You have to be present to sign the person in and make sure not to miss them or else you might not get to reschedule for another two weeks.
