Got into both, but if I attend UCLA I have the advantages that come with the Honors Program. Is getting classes at CAL (pre-med) difficult enough for me to weight the priority registration that comes with the honors program as an important deciding factor between the two?

id go with LA. I think both are equally competitive and berkeley only has a slightly better name. Plus, the honors prog will help you a lot for getting classes since it is definately a challenge to get classes at both colleges. Anyways the Westwood area is sweet and i like LA's campus better

I think that it's far more interesting in Berkeley than Westwood, and much easier to access San Francisco from Berkeley than LA from LA! The honors program has some great advantages at LA, but I don't know if you should make this the deciding factor. I don't think that the pre-med classes are that hard to get. I think you should weight other factors more than this particular aspect of the honors program at UCLA, but that's your decision, and maybe I'm wrong and it is a big deal.

Cal has honors within each department so you can still graduate with honors if you attend Berkeley.

I appreciate the feedback. The reason I lean towards Cal is in fact, what DRab pointed out, the culture and history surrounding the area (also the distance away from home). DRab, what are you majoring/have you majored in and have you had any issues not getting the classes you wanted?

Philosophy and rhetoric, and no, genererally not, it's all worked out, sometimes after being waitlisted and eventually getting in. There have been a few seminars I would have liked to get into, as they are small, and so many are about interesting subjects, but they were full, or certain class times conflicted with others, as there are SO MANY that I would like to take. I did get into seminars that I loved (and love).
