I was recently admitted to both UCLA and UCSB, but am from Illinois, and thus (as of right now) am only allotted $1,500 by the California Grant system (as seen on my profile on the UCLA site). So, I was wondering:
Is there any chance that maybe they’ll give in and offer more? Or am I gonna be stuck taking out some nice $40,000 for the next four years?
Also, do the different UC schools offer different amounts, or are they all tied into the same system?

they are slightly different, but not by much (maybe 2000?)

Well if you go to one of them you are going to be spending $40,000 so you might as well go to UCLA.

If you were a contender for a merit scholarship at any of the campuses, you would have heard already. For the $$, go to UI-CU, IMO.

NOPE. CA is SO STINGY with OOS funding, and it has the right to be cause it's public. Unless you get boatloads of outside merit aid...GOOD LUCK.

I can attest to that:

25k+ in loans expected of me per year for UCLA.

Same here, $23k loans from UCLA per year. Did get some scholarships form the university, though.

im from illinois too (Chicago) absolutely no money. oh well. still went to ucla!
