Any more acceptances for Fall 2015 out there?

@brucemag‌ I never received anything asking for mid year grades and I’ve also read on other threads that it can mean nothing. Other people have posted saying their portal read the same and then a few weeks later changed to accepted

Twelve weeks and one day since my application was submitted. This morning, the following message appeared:
“f you (or your school) have recently submitted supporting materials, please allow us time to process. Be patient and continue to revisit the site for updates!” UD did not ask me to submit first semester grades, but my school sends them automatically, so this is probably what UD means.

@nylily17 also keep in mind that the clock on the 12 weeks does not really start until they have processed all your documents not the day your application is submitted. hang in there, you are getting close! I believe when my son’s was submitted last year under the new admissions process it was mid October and the clock didn’t officially start until the first week of December… it’s a bit misleading.

My son applied Jan 4th and received his acceptance letter in the mail today. His UD portal still says that a decision has not been made. His major is BioEngineering. There was no mention of scholarships in his letter although I am hoping that he is awarded something. Stats: GPA 4.7, ACT 35, lots of leadership, volunteer work, great LoR. How long until you hear if you’ve received any merit aide?

Question regarding late score submission & notification date. I submitted my application to UDel in the last week/second to last week of December, but was notified several days ago that I had forgotten to submit my scores. I sent them in today–does this mean that I’ll be hearing back at a later date?

My family and I were spending the day up in Newark and for some reason I just had a feeling that today was the day. After taking an extra two hours to get home (it’s snowing pretty bad here right now), I still had to run to the mail box at 10pm to check for my UD decision. I opened the mailbox to find a big yellow envelope!! I applied in October so it has been a long, nerve-wracking wait. While my portal still does not show my acceptance, I am overjoyed to finally hear back from one of my top choices. I got into my first choice major, Biological Sciences, and couldn’t be happier! Good luck to those of you who are still waiting!

@Mwallenmd I have a question maybe you can help me with, I was accepted last week to UDEL and I am very excited . I was accepted to my 2nd choice which was undeclared but they make no mention of whether I am still being considered for my 1st choice which is nursing. I know it is very competitive but once accepted what else can I do to try to get into my 1st choice. I already sent an email to admissions asking if I was still being considered and if not if I can be put on a wait list. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

gcostagliola:

First of all Congrats on your acceptance to UD-no easy feat in itself. Unfortunately I don’t have any constructive advice to give you regarding your endeavors to switch your acceptance to a Nursing major. I have never heard of anyone being successful in being able to do this, or even being successful in being placed on the waiting list for Nursing. I sincerely wish that I had some suggestions to give you. It is just so highly competitive trying to get accepted into Nursing. Should you get any different information regarding these things from your contact with admission’s please post this.

Just in case you might also be thinking about an alternative plan to enter UD in a different major and then try to subsequently transfer into Nursing. UD Nursing usually advises individuals against trying to do this as the number of UD students who are successful in accomplishing this is extremely small, and the competition is actually more intense than being accepted as a freshman. It is so competitive, and so few slots are available, that I understand UD does not even accept transfer applications from outside of UD for Nursing. It is one of, if not the most, “restricted” major at UD. So trying to do this would be highly risky and would place you in a very precarious position if you are not successful. Again I wish I had better info to give you about this.

Once again I am very sorry I am not able to provide you with some useful advice. Best wishes to you in your future college experiences.

Just got my giant yellow envelope today marked “Congratulations!” OOS Student, Biological Sciences Major!

My daughter finally got her acceptance today. She is beyond herself excited. One question I have is, she applied to the business school first voice and undeclared major second choice. The acceptance came as an undeclared major, does that mean she did not get Into the business scho or will she hear from them separately? Thank you

@mommaof3 unfortunately it means she was not accepted into the business school. My son had the same acceptance last year as well. You can confirm that on her Blue Hen Portal. If is says University Studies then it’s a non business school acceptance. If it says Business Undeclared it means she is in the business school. It is possible to transfer into the business school if her grades fall into the range for the major she would like after she had taken I believe 15 credits along with Calc, Marco and Micro Economics. At that point she will be eligible to apply into the business school. This is what my son is working towards at this time. My daughter is currently a Jr in the business school. The admissions office as well as the business department can give you full information as to what is required and her options. Congrats on your admission!

Thank you So much for your help @lefty1. That’s what I thought but wanted to make sure. She is thrilled regardless Just to have been accepted into the school.

I agree! It’s quite a thrill and my son and daughter both LOVE it there! Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the business school if you ever need me. My D is very immersed in the business school and having my son trying to get in I feel like I’ve been around the block a few times with the business school! lol!

Congratulations as well. I agree with lefty1 comments and suggestions. I also have an additional one based on experience. Assuming your D plans to attend UD and still would like to subsequently pursue transfer into the Business School when your D goes to NSO (New Student Orientation) in June/July that she makes sure her advisor is aware at that time that she has an interest in ultimately transferring into the Business School. This would allow for the formulation of a class schedule that can best start her on a planned course to accomplish this. Best wishes.

Thanks for the tip @mwallander‌ she will do that for sure.

Portal change after 15 weeks ! Does !anyone know if a portal change from under review to notification via mail is a decline. Thought I read that that may be the case.

@nelson97 This is a copy and paste of a post from a week or two ago. (nothing has changed):

My son’s portal has said that for some time. You can refer to previous posts on this thread (#108, #131). You’ll see his portal changed to that, and a week or so later he received the letter saying they needed his first semester grades, etc. (others above have received the same letter). He wrote a letter expressing his love and devotion and a new letter of recommendation was sent from a high profile internship. His NJ school has been impacted by snow and first semester transcripts won’t go out until next week at earliest. So nothing has changed. (Except he was accepted by Penn State University Park and we’ve put down a housing deposit so he has options – without 6 roommates – whether UDel accepts him or not)

@brucemag thanks for the info. Good Luck!!

Got home from vacation to find a big yellow envelope for my son! He is so thrilled - UDel is his first choice! He was definitely on the bubble with a 3.4 and 1730 SAT - OOS. Accepted as undecided. We sent in his application 12/12 - it was finally marked complete and under review 1/19 and the letter is dated 2/11 - very surprised at the quick turnaround. The portal still says under review.

Whoops - just checked the portal again and it was been updated to reflect his acceptance (happened sometime today).
