to those still waiting… hang in there… my son applied Columbus day weekend… (mid Oct) and heard the last friday in February… He got in… no scholarship and as a University Studies student… (not business school) but he got in! Despite the uphill climb he has to get in the business school he is loving every minute… I couldn’t believe how happy he was to return to campus yesterday. It was like I saw him “come to life” before my eyes!
Today my portal changed to saying they received my FASFA form and directly under that it says “Official Notification via Mail”. Does this mean they have mailed my decision, or is it not significant?
My daughter received the letter requesting first semester grades on Christmas Eve. I called today and was told they just received her grades. I asked how long before we would hear anything. They told me letters would go out the end of March. She has received acceptance letters from five other schools. UD is her first choice!. Six more weeks of waiting, so hard
@pam9802 do you think that goes for everyone who hasn’t heard back yet? We won’t know until the end of March either?
I am not sure if she was specifically talking about my daughter or the next “batch” of letters.
@pam9802 I received the same letter as your daughter in December and sent my grades about two and a half weeks ago. I called UD last week and a woman in admissions said that my grades were received and to expect to hear something by mid-February. Mid-February is when the letter I got stated I would hear back at the latest. I checked my portal today and it stated that my FASFA was received and that I would receive official notification in the mail. At the sane time, my application status states that admissions is waiting on more information (I’m positive that everything was sent). As an in-state student, UD seems to be the best choice for me since it has everything I want from a college. I’ve been anxiously waiting and have been checking the mail everyday as soon as I get home from school, hoping to find a big, yellow packet. I’m hoping for the best! Best of luck to your daughter!
@futdent55 I just checked and they have received her FASFA too. Her letter in December said they would send out the letter in March. When I called two weeks ago they had not received her grades. The lady said it would probably be the end of March beginning of April. When I called this week they said everything was in. That is when she said the letter would go out the end of March. I had no idea it would take so long. My daughter submitted everything the first week of November. Her friend is in school is in the same boat. UD told her dad the exact same thing. We are out of state. I guess we just have to be patient. Good luck!
My son just received his big yellow envelope in today’s mail. For those wondering how long it took, he sent his application in around December 17th but due to the holidays and them needing to match up his transcripts, letters, scores, etc. (some of which arrived before and some arrived slightly later and were showing as missing), they had told me when I called to follow up that the file would not be matched up and shown as complete until they were back from the holiday break, the week of January 5. So if you go by that date, it only took around five weeks. His MyBlueHen portal was also updated to say ADMITTED as of today. MY BIG QUESTION: When and where do you find out if they’ve received any merit aid? There is no mention of it in his acceptance package or online. Really hoping he gets some as OOS tuition is a lot. Thanks.
Hello. My DD is an OOS student, she sent her application on 10/15, she applied to the business school. It is now over 16 weeks and she still has not heard. She called over three weeks ago and they told her to give it two weeks and she should hear, well as I said that was over three weeks ago and still nothing. Anyone else waiting this long for a response or does anyone know if the business school generally takes this long. Thanks so much, this is her top choice school and she is beside herself anxious waiting for the response.
Just got accepted. OOS, 3.2 GPA, 1970 SATS, good recs, good essay, very good ecs
@mommaof3 My D is a freshman in the business school. She was accepted last year around Feb . 4 so it should be soon. Good Luck, my D LOVES UD.
Thank you @Ctmom977 . We are keeping our fingers crossed

It appears from info posted on this thread that some students received notice of merit aid at the time they were accepted while others got a separate letter later regarding merit aid awards. Perhaps your son will hear later. Did you check on his accepted students home page under the heading of “Financial Awards”? In the past all forms of aid awarded were listed there. But perhaps it may still be added later. Good luck.

My son also applied the first week of Oct to the business school and we have heard nothing. Definitely feeling nervous for him. His grades/test scores are not bad but not exceptional… 1740 SATs, 3.6 W GPA, top 25%, tons of AP and honor classes. I did call yesterday for the first time and they said the business school is highly competitive and gave no indication of how much longer we would have to wait. He has been accepted to every other school he has applied to but UD is first choice. We are also OOS. What are your daughter’s Stats? Good luck to you and hang in there…
@jmom13 thanks so much. Although I hate to hear of someone else
Going through the stress we are it does help tremendously to know we are not alone. Her stats are similar to your sons she has a 1780 SAT and a 3.7 w GPA. She has also heard from every other school she applied to which is making her most crazy. Good luck to your son. Hoping for good news for both
I applied in the first week of October and still waiting… has your/ your child’s portal changed recently ?
@mrm2015 my DD’s portal still says under review.
Does anyone’s say “Once your decision is finalized, official notification will be sent via mail.” ??
@mrm2015 My son’s portal has said that for some time. You can refer to previous posts on this thread (#108, #131). You’ll see his portal changed to that, and a week or so later he received the letter saying they needed his first semester grades, etc. (others above have received the same letter). He wrote a letter expressing his love and devotion and a new letter of recommendation was sent from a high profile internship. His NJ school has been impacted by snow and first semester transcripts won’t go out until next week at earliest. So nothing has changed. (Except he was accepted by Penn State University Park and we’ve put down a housing deposit so he has options – without 6 roommates – whether UDel accepts him or not)
Thanks, Mwallenmd. We’re not seeing a Financial Rewards section/heading/link anywhere on his home page. There’s a link to apply for financial aid, but nothing else. I ended up calling the school today and they said it can take a few weeks to receive merit notification, if the student is eligible for any. They also said that they are now in the process of really sending out a lot more notifications and that everyone should know their situation by mid-March. Hopefully this helps those still waiting. I know how difficult it is.
