@redinhead33, we received my son’s scholarship paperwork a week or two after mailed letter acceptance.
@drumpf15 “once a decision has been made, offcial notification will be sent via mail”
Does anyone know last year when bulk of decisions came out for UDel that hadn’t yet been made by end of February and if there were a lot of acceptances in March of last year?
Yes
I was expecting to be wait listed because of what my portal says “once a decision is made, official notification will be sent via mail.” But I called again yesterday since Udel told me I would have a decision by March 1. I didn’t. So when I called they said no decision has been made yet at all, and to hang in there until mid March. I’ve been waiting about 16 weeks which is absurd especially considering there have been people who have been accepted in as little as 6 weeks. While I understand they are overwhelmed with applications this year, I think it’s very rude to keep someone who applied in November waiting until mid March, when they say they’ll have a decision made in 8-12 weeks. This whole thing has turned me off to Udel. Taking it as a sign to move on to my number 2 school!
I agree with you @drump15, I also have been waiting since around the 1st of November. I have emailed them, spoke with admissions several times, got a letter in January asking for midyear grades which were forwarded, etc. Still no word just hang in there…I have heard from 9 other schools and UDel is the last. Starting to lose interest in this school as I am making plans for accepted student day’s at a few of the other colleges. UDel was in my top 3, but with this admissions process that UDel utilizes, I am starting to lose my interest.
Hi everyone we are OOS (NJ) my D applied on Oct 16. we have heard NOTHING. i literally stalk the Blue Hen Home page 5 times a day. Her FAFSA was just updated saying
We have received your FAFSA and have determined that you are eligible to receive financial aid awards, which could include need-based grants, loans and federal work study. Shortly after your admission offer, more detailed information, including the conditions for maintaining your awards, will be available on this site from the My Awards and Financing -> FAAN (Fin. Aid Award Notice) link.
i have online chatted the admissions, i have called the school admission office, i have even gone as far as to LIE and say we dont have a mailman! lol NOTHING. in January they asked her for more info, mid semester grades and SATS - she wasnt takeing SATS again (thanks to the SNOW) but her mid sem grades were high honor roll…Im afraid she has gone thru hell waiting to be rejected. she has a 3.6 - 2 AP classes, National Honor Society since Jr Year, Nationally ranked Athlete, many volunteer hours, and extra curriculars, many clubs, always on honor roll, and has been a peer leader and a student teacher for our district. SO MUCH to offer, not to mention ALUMNI family members and stellar recommendation letters. WHAT IS THE HOLD UP, just reject us already if thats the case! Now shes over it and this was the closest school to home i could get her to apply to! she wants out of NJ and away from the snow!
UDEL you are killing me!! (purely selfish reasons, i dont want her so far away darn it!!) Good luck to all those in pergatory with us…
*taking (sp)
@JohnnasMom I hope you hear soon. Waiting is hell, particularly when the time frames seem to be all over the place. Your daughter sounds a lot like mine; we were waiting for what seems like forever too but my daughter finally did get in Hang in there,
Just got accepted today!!!
Portal was updated, was accepted! Application became complete January 14th
mrm2015:
Congrats on your acceptance. Didn’t you previously post that you had been initially waitlisted? If so that is really weird but obviously is great for you.
Congrats @mrm2015! What is your major? I am guessing your major filled up but then through people sharing their intention with the school not to attend an opening became available.i.e with majors like nursing that can happen at a lot of schools. small amount of slots but then some people don’t accept.
@Mwallenmd yes I was three-ish weeks ago. I agree completely that it is extremely odd. I couldn’t believe it. They told me I soildnt hear until MAY. @tennisgirl6 business undeclared !
IMHO we should be seeing a dramatic increase in decisions announced this week and next week. This at least was what was seen last year. Good luck to all those still waiting.
Hoping for good news soon. UD was closed last week on Thursday and Friday and I think had a late opening on Wednesday due to weather, so I am sure they are a bit behind (at least that’s what I am telling my nervous daughter).
Anyone know what the “Due to the high volume…” letter really means? Saying you will be given a decision in mid-April when your app has been complete since 11/5 seems odd. Mid year grades were sent 1/30. Sounds like a way of saying “waitlist” or do they actually say waitlist? Any help would be appreciated as my sons friend received the letter Friday and is really upset as he has seen others receive decisions with little wait, some as qualified, less qualified and more qualified. Want to help him out if anyone has an answer …Thanks
@Mwallenmd Thanks for the heads up!! This wait is agonizing!
OK , still waiting on a UD decision, but today found out was promoted to a junior member of CC. lol Maybe that;'s the first of 3 good things to come…
