Applied undecided Nov 13th. Just hit the 8 week waiting period. Did people hear decision closer to 8 weeks or 12 weeks after submitting application? I am still waiting for this important decision. The wait is so hard.
@tennisgirl6 From what I’ve seen on here, it tends to be closer to 8 weeks, not 12. My daughter applied on 11/22, and yesterday (1/14) her portal was updated to say that she was accepted. I’m not sure if it takes longer for “undecided” majors or not, but I suggest that you check your portal every day since you should get a decision soon.
@LR4150 So your daughter applied on 11/22 but when did she have all of her other pieces in such as her recommendations and transcript? I only asked because I applied on 11/12 but my on my portal it said they didn’t receive everything until 12/8. So basically what I’m asking is was it 8 weeks after she sent in her common app or 8 weeks after the transcripts etc were received?
I sent in my application over a month ago and sent my materials prior to sending in my common app but the portal says that they still haven’t received my transcript or recommendation letter! I called them and they said they have everything on file and i’m set but I am just concerned that i won’t hear until 8 weeks after everything is listed on the portal. Has this happened to anyone else??
We have the same problem. Called once and chatted once about it. They have assured me that they have it. Hopefully all is in the works. In our case, transcript and recommendations were sent before (1.5 months) the application.
Yeah my guidance counselor sent everything out in September so it was pretty far in advance and she has also called admissions to make sure she didn’t need to resend my transcript. I know they said everything is there but it is just so frustrating seeing people get accepted when something I can’t control might be delaying a decision!
@drumpf15 She applied on 11/22, and on 12/2 the portal finally updated to say that they received her transcript and test scores (even though those were sent way before November). So those of you who are having that problem should not be too concerned, as long as you have contacted Admissions and they assured you that they have everything. As for the 8-week timeframe, for my daughter it was approximately 8 weeks from when she submitted her application and approximately 6 weeks from when they said that they had received all of the required materials. I hope that info is helpful.
Just to clarify, on 12/2 her portal updated to say that they had everything except for the FAFSA (and the status still showed as “Incomplete”). On 12/8, it updated to “under review”. On 1/14, it updated to say that she was accepted.
Son’s portal changed a few days ago from “Under Review” to “Once your decision is finalized, official notification will be sent via mail.” I don’t think it bodes well, especially since a Q like this was posted last year and the person who posted didn’t post again. (Obviously parents and kids are more apt to post ‘accepted’ news rather than ‘declined.’). He’s a bubble kid so a rejection wouldn’t be a big surprise. I will return and post the decision even if it’s not the one we hope for.
@brucemag, my son’s was posted like that last year and he got in.
Thanks @lefty1. He won’t commit to it (so he isn’t too disappointed if he doesn’t get in), but I’m pretty sure UDel is his top choice (I think Bethany Beach vacations his entire life has something to do with it). I hope he gets in – a great school with a beautiful campus and town. But if not, he’ll do fine wherever he goes!
I’m in-state and found out Tuesday, as did a lot of my classmates. I applied November 20th, the last day of the free application period for DE students. For some reason the online portal still hasn’t updated: I only found out through a letter in the mail, and everyone I’ve asked has told me that they received the letter BEFORE seeing a decision online.
I got my letter today and applied October 30th
@scohen99 in state or out of state?
UDel is my son’s first choice. Applied Nov 18. They have received all of his paperwork but Status has said “applied” for weeks now. Has never said “Under Review”…Doesn’t make me feel confident that he has a chance.
Hi @jan1090 not sure if this helps buy my son applied 10/30 portal updated as complete with “under review” 11/5 but admission told me when I called his app wasn’t complete until 11/24. His friend applied 3 week after him- his portal read applied only and he got accepted 2 weeks ago. He goes to the same hs and lives in the same town as my son. So I don’t really think what your sons portal says will affect him. Hope that helps
@dipper1234 OOS I live in NY.
My stat’s weren’t high either so I’m surprised I heard back already, I did apply pretty early though (10/30)
My GPA is like a 3.4 and I have a 29 ACT. My essay, supplements, and recs were all good.
Accepted into the Nursing Program

I called admissions office recently and they said their website is not updated daily. it is updated in batches and could be as little as once or twice a week in some cases. So in some cases letters will be received before online… for decisions. Hope this helps. Still waiting… applied mid Nov…OOS… waiting is hard!!
chatted with admissions today and they told me my application was in its final stages and I should hear very soon…anyone know if this means it has been mailed or when I should hear? Applied 11/18
