Any more acceptances for Fall 2015 out there?

@dipper1234 My D was told similar thing and her application was completed around same time as yours. She got impression that meant one to two weeks at most from her conversation with admissions… best of luck!!! The wait is so hard!

Does anyone know if denials are sent out the same time as acceptances or are they sent at the end of the process…thanks

I applied around 11/10 but around Christmas I received a letter in the mail from the school saying that due to the amount of qualified students, they will need my first semester grades and other examples of my work. Has this happened to anyone else? And is it s good or bad sign?

Alright I applied in November and until today mybluehenhome said I was missing letter of recommendation and transcript and it just changed to under review today. Does this mean I won’t hear back for like 8 weeks now??

@historylover475‌ to be honest, I really have no idea but personally I think it’s better than getting rejected. Best of luck to you and please keep us updated! Also, would you mind me asking what kind of grades and test scores you have? I applied to UD myself and am anxiously waiting to hear back from them, and I’m wondering if I have a chance at all. Thanks :slight_smile:

Every year a number of students receive such a letter. Some end up getting accepted, some do not. Unfortunately I am not aware of specific statistics regarding this. Hopefully the info you can provide them with is positive in nature. UD likes to see students challenge themselves during their Sr. year by taking a full course load of major academic subjects and, of course, gets good grades in them. The more advanced courses (i.e. Honors, AP, etc.) the better. Good Luck.

It is hard to answer your question with certainty. The change in an applicant’s portal is not always timely and perhaps they actually had all your info earlier. Unfortunately This is the best response I can give you. Good luck.

No one has as yet posted on this thread that they received a denial letter or that they are aware of anyone receiving one. I suspect, however, that most people who might have received one would probably not post it. Last year a few people did post that they were rejected but these posts did not appear until late February or March if I remember correctly. Good luck

@drumpf15‌ Here are my stats:

3.1 UW GPA (3.3 W)
1750 SAT
two APs and the rest honors
great extracurriculars (sports, theatre, tech)
Really strong reccomendations and essays
Work and volunteer experience
I’ve also visited campus three times

It a great school, I’d be lucky to go there! Best of luck to you!

@Mwallenmd Thank you!

Anyone know if tue/we’d is portal change day because those are the days most people announce their acceptances on here and I fb site…just wondering if anyone else noticed that pattern?

My friend called yesterday and UD told her that her application was at the 8 week mark and she should probably hear in 2-4 more weeks (10-12 weeks) . My other friend has waited 13 weeks so far . It may depend on major and/or if borderline to get in and maybe they want to see more applications in to compare I am guessing or also extra high volumes in certain majors? Did anyone hear in less then 10 weeks that is OOS?

It is only about 6 weeks until UD, prior to beginning the new admission procedure started last year, would sent out most all of their decisions in March. My perspective would be that over the next several weeks we shall see a significant increase in the number of decisions being sent out so there is some light on the horizon for those still waiting (IMHO the majority of the OOS applicants who will be accepted). I know it is frustrating but hang in there. Good luck to everyone.

I wrote last week that my son’s portal had a change to “…Official Notification will be sent via mail” from “Under Review” and we feared it meant rejection. I promised to return with the result. The mail arrived today with that feared, thin, #10 envelope, but… he received what amounts to a ‘deferral.’ They need more time to evaluate and suggest he send midyear grades (automatic), new SAT scores (ain’t gonna happen! He’s done with SATs!) and complete the ‘optional’ essay on common app (didn’t know it was optional and he did it upon application). So, we shall wait. He sees it as a rejection; I see it as hopeful. The reality is he doesn’t have great grades/scores (3.4/1700) but holistically he has a great app (huge upward trend in grades, great community service, intern for US Senator…). He’s also a very mature, responsible kid (geez…think I sound like the kid’s father?). So, that’s the update. More waiting. :neutral_face:

@brucemag. I wouldn’t just wait. I would have him write a letter to admissions restating his interest in the school. Maybe send an extra letter of recommendation from one of his activity leaders, show them how much he wants to be there.

@desie1 Excellent counsel. Thanks – plan to follow exactly as you laid out!

I am from Washington and just got my acceptance letter two weeks ago.

@brucemag hi my sons friend received the same letter. Like yours, She too is very upset. Have you heard anything since? I too agree its better then hearing nothing like my son who applied 10/13 and his status is unchanged from “under review…” He views that as a bad sign - poor kid. Good luck to you!!

@nelson97 We just received the letter on Saturday. My son has written UDel reinforcing him commitment and updating his school record. He has also reached out to get another letter of recommendation or two. His first semester grades were good (not perfect). Doing what he can do and let go of there results. Good luck to both your son and his friend.

@brucemag… saw your U of D post and QU posts… Ironic my daughter applied to both as well. We are In state and she is a pretty good Student never had a problem getting in either… She applied to quite a few colleges, waiting on two more but she committed to QU… she got into their PA Program and fell in love with the campus… it also helped they gave her $23K in merit to make the cost somewhat competitive and in the ball park… Here is my two cents about U of D… its a great school but they do tend to weed kids out of certain programs… especially in Bio and Chem and they are large classes and I am not sure of his major but Delaware does not hold your hand… If he is a bubble kid it may not be a good match for certain programs… Its a much bigger then QU and not sure of the tutoring Resources offered at U of D… My philosphy was if my daughter was going to Nursing she would be going to U of D due to the cost (cheapest Option and they gave her merit there as well but we only live 20 minutes away ), However she chose to be Physician Asst and its very hard to get in the graduate program and for the expensive cost of QU, she at least would be employed coming out of the program. Both have beautiful campuses… Good Luck… Fate will make something happen…

@collegemoneyman Thanks for the note. The PA program at QU is top-notch and they only take top-notch students – so kudos to your daughter. QU has also offered my son some very nice money (bit less than your daughters) and it’s a beautiful, manageable school. We’re in Northern NJ, so QU is a bit closer, and my son’s grandparents live nearby. I completely agree with your comment about fate…what will be, will be. It will happen, it will happen for a reason, and it will all be fine. I keep telling themselves that – my son already believes it because he’s very relaxed about the entire process. I’ll keep you updated on what we decide. Thanks again.

Finally…son received his yellow congratulations envelope today. BTW the portal still shows “under review”. I’m not sure which is suppose to come first because I’ve heard it both ways on CC. We’re happy as his older brother is currently a freshman at UD so we’d love to have both boys there.
