Actually, Brown’s Chemistry 0330 (the usual first course) requires a high enough score on a Brown chemistry placement test to enter, with an AP chemistry score of 4 exempting one from having to take the placement test. Those who have neither the placement score nor the AP score need to take Chemistry 0100. It does not necessarily mean that AP level chemistry knowledge is required, though AP level chemistry knowledge is considered sufficient, to take Chemistry 0330.
How about Colorado School of Mines? IIRC that has very few liberal arts requirements.
http://bulletin.mines.edu/undergraduate/undergraduateinformation/undergraduatedegreerequirements/ indicates that Colorado School of Mines requires 19 hours of humanities and social studies, which is 15.8% of the 120 hours of credit needed to graduate.
Rutgers would probably serve him better than most places, academically, since he would get credit for everything he’s taken in the past as well as his APs (he could walk in the door with nearly junior standing). His prior classes would fill some core requirements. We’re just not sure he wants to be there (nor that we want it for him). If he wants to reconsider it as a backup, he can make a deposit. It’s less than most. I know it wouldn’t be his dream, though, having spent plenty of time there already.
