hey, thank you for answering my previous posts! got another question.

I didnt complete IGETC in my college. It wasn’t recommended for my major, aerospace engineering, and wasn’t required for admission. however, to graduate at ucla I need to take 28 units of general education according to the website. do I get credit for the GE classes I took at my college so that I only need to take what is left? where can I go to find out which GE classes from my college are recognized by ucla?

how hard is it to transfer from uci to ucla and what do i exactly need to transfer? and will applying for an econ/business major only make the chances more difficult?

^
It’s super difficult. I remember last year someone from here had a very overall profile and was rejected, he appealed and still didn’t get in. I can only imagine now that…two years have passed and since currently UCLA is super over-enrolled… Not only that, BizEcon is incredibly impacted…

To passwordis123: Since you’re an engineering major, you didn’t have to complete IGETC, that is true. The engineering majors have a completely different set of criteria, which I don’t know much about. I think you’re required to see a counselor because of it.
Anyways, on your myUCLA there should be a ‘Degree Progress Report’ actually I lied, it on your URSA, go to your URSA and on the left there should be a ‘Degree Progress Report or DPR’ and click on it. If it’s updated it should show you some of the courses that have transferred over with credit/UCLA courses that are equivalent and those that are not. If it’s not completed, when you come for Orientation you will go over it with your OC, they give you a copy of it.

Hello! What information were you looking for particularly? I’m a Psychobiology major, but I could try my best, also remember that Google is your friend…lol!

^
I’m not sure what you’re asking…lol. If you just pick Single Room, I think you get your own bathroom, and shared…well obviously means shared, lol.

To Calculus123: Definitely have grown in many many many ways. You decide how you spend your time here, lol.

Hi, i’m hoping to transfer next year (fall 12’) and i’m applying as a psych major…I was just wondering if i would be able to switch to bio at orientation?? I have a friend who did this, but I don’t know if he was a special case or something. Also, if i wasnt able to switch my major, would there be classes that are reserved for only bio majors that psych majors would not be able to take.

Thanks for your response!

p.s. im trying to get into dental school so that is why im wondering if i should try and stick with psychology or try and switch to something like bio or chem.

^
Hello! If you want to go into DS…why aren’t you a science major? Hahaha. No, you won’t be able to switch into Biology. During my Orientation, I had another Psychobiology major want to switch to regular Biology and it didn’t happen, lol. With every impacted major there are classes that are only restricted to that major. Psychology has a bunch, haha. The only thing I may suggest if you’re going to stay during in the Psychology major is to take those courses during the summer which is when the enrollment restrictions are lifted. Good luck to you next year!

Hi Rhee, do you know anything about this “UCLA Achievement Scholarship” that some of us have received? Our bff Google didn’t turn anything relevant up except for recent posts on this forum.

first off, thank you so much for starting this thread and taking the time to answer questions :)

i’m not sure if you’ll be able to answer mine, but i saw your post about a unit cap for a uc-uc transfer. “With the exception of the School of Nursing (post-licensure), UCLA generally considers a student who has accumulated more than 86 transferable semester units (129 transferable quarter units) at a university to have exceeded maximum units allowable for admission. Such a student will not be admitted.”

I have the same question as calile89…I ordered my transcript up to fall2010 semester on May 3rd, but it takes 7-10 business days I think and myUCLA says that we have to wait “at least 2 weeks” for it to be processed. It’s been 2 weeks but myUCLA still does not show that they received my transcript :(

Hello to everyone! I apologize for not being able to come on as often as I used to, but I realized that the year is probably over for most but finals are coming up for me…ah!

Anyways…

To BostonCrmPie: I actually have NO idea how they determined that, I got it too…but I also have a 4.00 and a EFC of 0. Again, no idea. If I find out anything, will check back!

To belELAY12: I don’t think so. That might be considering AP units, I mean…I was already considered senior status since the end of my first quarter here because I took every AP test you can imagine…so no. And you’re welcome!

To calile89: Right now they’re getting MASSIVE amounts of transcripts and stuff in general, so they have to sort out everything…and then slowly they update their system. It will take a bit longer to actually show up on your myUCLA page, but it will…and yes, you will be able to sign up for Orientation.

Same goes for ybgirl: don’t trip. They get so much mail during this time…so it takes a while for them to sort through everything.

Just an FYI: summer Financial Aid Letter will be coming out either this week or next.

And…today UCLA had a 50% clothing items, so I STOCKED up. Once you all get over here, you need to wait for the sales because I remember last year after the AAP Scholar’s Day event, my dad bought me a sweater that cost some $52 dollars…today I spent $52 dollars on FIVE shirts. Good sales. Oh and I got my Microsoft Office for $79, yay.

Do you happen to know how hard it is to petition to go over the max units? I really want to double major but it looks like I might be going over the max here.

Also, do you know if it’s possible to meet with a counselor before orientation?

Hey Tiff I was recently admitted to UCLA. Today I checked my application and I accidentally put 5 units for one of my classes instead of 4. It is necessary for me to report this, and if so, what is the best way? Thanks so much.

^
To be honest, I don’t think they’ll care, but for your Degree Progress Report (which you will receive at Orientation) I think it is important that they know the correct unit amount, especially if you’re at unit max and stuff like that. Contact Admissions by emailing them and they’ll change it for you.

To IndieRockNRoll: It’s not very hard at all. You make an appointment with your counselor and they go over the process with you and help you with it, you’re in AAP right? They have awesome counselors. I don’t think it’s possible to meet with a counselor before Orientation because they don’t have any information about you in the system since your final grades have not been turned in, sorry!

Which is more of a party school, ucla or UC Davis? I am debating between The two because I am more of. A studious type of person. Who likes to spend Friday nights studying with. Some. Buddies in the. Library or Starbucks. I am a college nerd. I am not a partier nor do I drink. I want to put my studies first because I desire to shoot for the highest GPA I can attain for grad school admission. Will it be easier to attain a higher GPA at ucla or UC Davis?
