Any Stern Transfers out there? I got a few questions

Hey, I'm assuming you're referring to nyu stern. I transferred here two years ago from a state school..........

You think I can get your sn and ask u some questions...

Hey,
Just e-mail me your SN to rubel19@hotmail.com, since this thread might not be the best place to post this stuff.

i know a kid that transfered from Indiana to Stern

one girl from Maryland

it can definetely happen

I actually transferred to Stern from Rutgers in Fall 2004. In high school I was waitlisted by Stern, then finally accepted, but by then I thought it would be smarter to save that first year of tuition. I think I was pretty lucky to be accepted again, because I didn't even include a letter of recommendation with my new application, but I had a 3.8 gpa in the first semester. If NYu knew how I did 2nd smstr, I doubt Id be so lucky......

im also from rutgers...u think a 3.6 freshman year would cut it or no

wow, i didnt know that nyu stern took so many state school transfer kids, i guess so, i know of 2 just within my sister's friends

Hey,
I think a 3.6 is fine, depending on the kind of classes that you took. If you're applying during the middle of your first year as I did, I know they will look at your HS record (make sure your H.S. sends your transcripts to them and then confirm with NYU if they received them, since they had lost mine twice.)
If you didn't do well in H.S. I think it would probably be better to do well first year, and apply during the second year.

I met another Rutgers transfer at Stern and at least half dozen state school transfers. The admissions people do not seem to be snotty, but it all depends on how many transfer spots they have to fill each year.
