Any successful stories on applying again?

I am applying this year- expecting to get rejected.
But in the case of getting admitted, what’s the chance of getting re-admitted again at the same school?

Why are you expecting to get rejected? Which school(s) and what major?

@goldencub Berkeley. Don’t quite remember their major, but they’re applying to only Berkeley.

@laccstudent Are you asking if you get admitted, you don’t accept the offer, and apply again the following year? If so, and your plan is to apply to just Berkeley, why would you not accept the offer?

@briank82
Worst scenario is that I won’t get any financial aid.
I’m an independent student (declared by our financial officer 3 times) but I can’t complete this process without going through financial-aid officer’s help to clear my dependency status. My school won’t help me with FAFSA until next July. I can be independent by 18-19 Fall, by being 24.
So at first, I was reluctant to apply. I was going to withdraw all of my application even from Berkeley.
But I wanted to apply still, hoping there would be some financial aid for me(perhaps get a student loan for the sake of attending Berkeley).

@goldencub
Also, I do feel like my 2 NP and 4Ws are enough reason for Berkeley to turn down my application.
Nevermind the 4.0 GPA, it’s been salvaged by W’s and P/NP options.

@laccstudent I forget, did you make up the NP classes? They won’t care about the Ws unless you seem to have a pattern of withdrawing from classes - that looks bad. Even then, it’s not absolutely certain that they’ll care enough to reject you.

@goldencub I haven’t retaken it. Do you think it’s going to be a problem?

@laccstudent perhaps, because they will be viewed as Fs (but they won’t affect your GPA.) Maybe you can get them cleared via academic renewal?

@goldencub, I see… well, I mean I guess I can say goodbye to UCLA and UC Berkeley for now.
Going to spend one more year and see how it’d go.

Without applying that is… next year will be my year!
Also, I’m fine going to other UC’s then.

@laccstudent Well if they get cleared via academic renewal, they won’t (or shouldn’t) count against you.

@goldencub Haha, it’s alright. I’ve done some research, but it won’t be removed from the transcript. D’s and F’s are removed from the GPA factor (for the sake of putting yourself above 3.0 or any borderline i.e. calgrant: 2.0) but the grade/marks you’ve received are still there.
Thanks for your words, you are always kind!
