Any waitlist news?

someone posted on a different thread that he was an international who didn't have a green card and that is why he was waitlisted. possibly a rumor but that would sort of make sense, maybe.

i can't wait until they accept more people

I called the admissions office today around 2:00. The lady who answered told me that they were activating their waitlist this year and they were in the process of getting letters ready to mail out this week. She couldn't tell me how many they were taking, but she did say that we would be notified either way.

so I called today (Thurs). I was told:
tomorrow, they will start sending the letters in the mail no matter which way the decision was. but the way they work, some people may not know until into June.

I am currently on the phone with the Financial Aid Office (on hold) to see how fast the Financial Aid Package information will come to those admitted off the waitlist.

Thanks to all the people who posted before me, any news is good to know.

okay, I was told that they will tell me that stuff when I get the stuff. (I made sure my information was in, so I'm cleared). All I have now is waiting. I hope that this has helped the other people in my spot. peace.

"Until the day when God will deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is contained in these two words---Wait and Hope."

ok quick questions

i wanted to know so they will mail eveything out Friday May 18, 2007 right and I got my waitlist decision on March 30th and then the next day they gave me the letter in the mail does this mean ill get a response in the mail on Friday May 18, 2007

also i know you guys don't exactly know but supposedly there is a yield of 1443 and like a 2010 class of 1510 last year which is about an increase of like 10-15 students each year that being 1515+ this year and so far there are like 1443 being that there are like 70-80 spots now they said like 500 kids except the spots but maybe a lower amount do or then

how do they choose?????? i know almost everyone is like on a equal level in academics since their qualified for the university then it is like who has more interest right??????? like who sends in things saying they really have interest and wish to go, do those kids hava little advantage over the other kids???

Also i snet updates on May 2, and it probably reached there May 4-5 to be reviewed and then another activity update on May 11, probably reached there on like May 14-15th do you think they looked at that and reviewd it before they made another dicision??? was that adequate time for sending them???

When did you guys send in things???

Finally good luck everyone and may god be with us all

post a decision tomorow if you get one

You are so obesssed

i'm so obsessed too. unbelievably, unhealthily obsessed. i pretty much stalk the waitlist thread waiting for some more news haha i am a bit of a creeper.

anyways, I am bummed about it being sent friday, because that means that the good old minnesota mail service won't get me my (likely to be small) letter slash package from brown until monday at the earliest, and probably not until wednesday or thursday. so well you guys are agonizing over your decisions i will be peeing my pants in anticipation.

well some of those spots will go to transfers.

YAY!!! SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jp. lol. I WANNA KNOW SO BADLY!!
and no, no spots go to transfers. you can't transfer into freshman year fall semester...transferring into the freshman class is basically called the "high school application process."

so apparently, they mailed it out on the 15th, and if you don't get in on the first round, then you're basically out, so if you haven't gotten a letter yet, then it's kinda over cuz people who send in wait lists are those who still are interested in going there, so they're not going to turn down an opportunity for wait lists, so...I haven't gotten a letter yet so my hopes are kinda dim right now...

wait? says who? cause I definitely called the office and they said they started to mail them out today. which means I will not know till sometime next week cause the mail lady seems to not like me.

wait so are we all getting responses no matter what like an acceptance, rejection or further delay

or is it only people who have been accecpted are getting letters?????????

the most reliable information (from these boards, which are anti-reliable) is that the letters are being sent TODAY, friday the 18th, and are being sent to ALL students who accepted the waitlist offer: however, the letters come in two very different flavors (like ice cream, except future-determining)-- acceptances, and "you are still on the waitlist." however, brown might be pulling a columbia, and closing the waitlist for the vast majority of kids. however, i think they will keep it open til the end of june.

Funfetti, when you are referring to those who "accepted the waitlist offer"- are you referring to saying "yes" to the call from the admissions office? My call came from Brown to my college advisor, last Thursday, and they spoke again on Monday. The question from Brown was: if the student were given an offer from Brown, would the student accept it? The Brown person would not say to the college advisor if that meant I was "in" or not, but said that letters (in two batches) would start to be going out later in the week (meaning Friday, yesterday). My eyes are glued to the mailbox...

i didn't get any calls to my guidance office and if i did my counselor wouldn't know anything so if i didn't get a call does that mean no letter for me

i thought they weren't going to call put use the mail for decisions

they didn't say anything about a call in the wait list letter

also what if ur counselor accidentally said no they were not definately going to matriculate since he didn't know what then????????

I was on the waitlist as well, and I just got a call today from my regional admissions officer, who gave me a heads-up and told me that I've been accepted off the waitlist. From what she told me, it appears that letters have been sent to all the people on the waitlist on Friday, whether accepted or not. I was told that the acceptances come complete with the fin aid information, and that you have 2 weeks to respond to the offer. I'm ecstatic that I got in since I really want to go to Brown, and good luck to everyone else.

So, does everybody who got accepted off the waitlist get a call? I'm fuh-reaking out here, because I don't hear my phone ringing.

I just checked the mail, and there was a big envelope... from another school. The anticipation is too much to bear.

oh no...i didn't get a call; does that mean i'm not in? : ( : (
maybe some regional reps are calling and some arent?

Everything I heard from them implied that regional officers don't really represent or advocate for students in their region, as the number of students considered is relatively small. Which is good in my case since the regional officer quit two weeks ago~
