I live about an hour from Brown. Got a small letter today.
Dear Michael, .... we will not be able to offer you a place in the Class of 2011 at Brown. :(

Ah well, Georgetown here i come!

Best of Luck to all of you who are still in waiting.

oh no! well it is unlikely i will get anything todady anyhow, as i live in minnesota; but i didn't know kids were getting taken OFF the waitlist as well as accepted.....that is an extra level of scary-depressed-ness. i wonder if they are leaving some kids on the waitlist though. I hope so.

ah as predicted, i just got a call from my mom saying that nothing from brown came in the mail today.

: ( : ( the agony continues

BUT i just found out i get a small (but unexpected and highly appreciated) academic scholarship to northwestern, so that slightly lessens the disappointment that will most likely arrive in a small package in the upcoming days.

I was going to call my regional admissions person yesterday, but she was out when I called, so I figured I'd just wait, but I agree with you, the wait is becoming way too unbearable. Give it a shot and post results here immediately :).

hey, my friend called me ten mins ago, she was on the list too, she said that she called the office two hours ago, and Brown was "sorry"... i guess i will spend some time to calm her down and just call it a day... maybe tomorrow would be an other day... but u know, ups or TNT never spend 5 days to deliver a mail...of cuz, US lost office is another thing...

DD received rejection letter today. She was admitted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, and Stanford, but rejected by Brown after being placed on their wait list. Good luck to all who are still waiting to hear from Brown.

^^Proving that admissions truly is random/unpredictable. I also received my "We're not taking you" letter, which I really couldn't care less about. Once I decided on Wellesley, I was done caring about any other school, and I really don't think that I would have gone to Brown if I had gotten in...I would have had to think about long and hard, anyway.

I doubt that they took very many people, but good luck to those waiting and congrats to those who got in.

got my official rejection letter today.
anyone know for sure if brown accepted anyone off the waitlist b/c they wrote that there was a high number of ppl who committed and that they "had hoped to be able to consider [me] for admission at a later time."

can we infer that they didn't accept anyone off the waitlist?

and ghost: it's "13 students competing for every available space," meaning they took 1/13 applicants overall.

now my hope was all gone, i didn't get a call earlier, it is a little bit grievous, cuz a lot of things really got ur hopes up, and we have waited for so long, just wanna know, did anyone get a fat letter?
