We'll be doing some traveling to NYC in the fall for my son to take some additional music lessons, and I wonder if anybody has any leads on hotels/hostels/lodging in NYC that won't break the bank. I've been thinking maybe we should investigate Air B n B. Wonder if anyone has done so?

Not about AirBnB particularly - I do know people who’ve used it in other cities and it’s been fine - but there are a couple of previous threads on this forum about finding accommodations in NYC. Here’s one:

Thanks. Subscribing to that thread. It answered the questions I had exactly!

This thread was very helpful when we traveled to New York

[NYC hotels under $150](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1404075-nyc-hotels-under-150-a.html?highlight=nyc+hotels)

Yes, a guest visiting us last month used AirBnB to book a place to stay once she landed in NYC after her visit with us. She ended up in a very nice neighborhood with a nice room for less than $50 a night. Use it wisely; check fellow traveler write-ups … looks like a great tool.

I haven’t personally used it but a good friend has used it more than once. They were very happy with it and recommended it to us. We will most likely be booking through airbnb when we go to Boston this winter. You should have no trouble if you look at the reviews, etc. And if you do use them, I’d love to hear about your experience!
