mm... yeah after thinking about it again, I'd reword what I said. I wouldn't say you have a definite in in any of those cases. I think that if they can get past your GPA, you are good to go, but the GPA is sort of low. So yeah, I'm not trying to be mean or get you hopes up to high, you are really hit or miss, more on the miss side by just a lil bit.

My application status was updated today!

Final decision pending...

... I wonder when I'll know...?

My d was updated to "final decision pending" on January 5 and still no word, so I would say you will hear in late March or April.

ya mine said the same round late jan and there is still no news
i think its maybe an = to getting deferred....

i doubt we'll hear b4 march

whimpers in a corner...it still hasnt even gotten a prelim. review, and i submitted in on the 12th! my confidence is waning more and more every day....
I visited a friend yesterday at the UW, and fell in love all over again. I went to her Intro to Communications class with her (taught by Professor Silver), and it was just soo interesting. We had lunch, and she introduced me to the Daily Staff (I'm interested in majoring in journalism), who seemed really interested in having me write for them next year. I kept reminding them though, I still havent gotten in. I want to hear so badly (as Im sure we all do), yet things are going so slowly. Ohhhhh, I really, really, REALLY hope I (and we all) get in.

I got in and they offered me an Achievement Award scholarship thing for out of staters. $15 K, I'm stoked. Anybody else get that?

what are your stats and what is your major?

Hey jenesaisquoi, awesome job! You're the only other person that I know of who has gotten a scholership from UW. Again, congrats! Do you think you'll end up going to Uw? Where are you from?

i got the 15000 achievement award for out of staters too. got it just today in the mail. but its only a one-time thing, spread out over two years. when i first read it, i thought it was 15000 each year for four years, but nope, 7500 each year for 2 years. anyway, stats: 1500 sat, 34 act, 4.0 gpa, major: probably biochemistry or chemistry

IwantUW: You submitted just a few weeks ago, and the same day as the deadline, so a ton of apps were flooding in that week. It took me one month for me to get a prelim review Dec 1 to Jan 3. And, I haven't heard anything since Jan 3. So, I've been waiting a total of around 3 months now. Atleast, most of us will probably hear in March, that seems to be the consensus, but we have to in April, so only a maximum of two months left I guess. I do hope they have some way of prioritize the final decisions or something for those of us that had a prelim months ago, not that I don't want the rest of you to hear, but we've already done our waiting.

congrats little john! oh and the location that's in your i.d. box made me laugh. :-) so where is UW at on your list?

haha, yeah, the state of idaho's great isnt it. umm, where is UW on my list? I don't mean to sound like a terrible person, but its pretty low on my list actually cuz i'll still have to pay a bunch of money since i'm out of state: about 17000 each of the first two years, and about 24000 each of the next two years. i've gotten better scholarship at a few other schools

yeah, that's understandable, so no worries about you sounding like a horrible person. good luck, though, w/ whatever school you decide to choose!

i submitted my application over 6 weeks ago, not just a few. and you got a preliminary review in a month? its been over a month for me, and still, no prelim. review. I mean, come on, how long does it take to check it all the documents are there, then put it aside for another review??
it's really starting to worry me, but what can i do? call up the UW admissions office and demand that they look at my app. immediately? i feel frustrated, powerless, and freaked out...anyone else relate?
Damn it, why couldnt my AI # be good enough for automatic admision?!

I would call them up...by now you should ve gotten an prelim review

iwantuw, I submitted my application in early November and I didn't have a preliminary done for 2.5 months.

Yeah, it took them exactly 8 weeks for them to give mine a prelim review. I submitted like Nov 4th or something and got the prelim review on the exact day that 8 weeks had passed.

I'm curious about the foreign language and the science requirements. I had heard that 3 years language and 1 year chem or physics were needed to be considered. But I was looking at the web site and it lists only 2 years language and 1 year lab science (bio, chem, or physics.) Has anyone else heard anything different than what was posted?

The two years language and 1 year lab science are minimums. My d has 4 years language and 4 years of science; 3 years lab (biology H; Chem and Physics). Hopefully it will help. The sad thing is this: If you have only the minimums but a GPA of 3.7 or higher you are in right away. If you have beyond the minimums but a slightly lower GPA (say 3.6) you will wait till hell freezes to hear.

haha tru that...but trust me ur d will get in...just a matter of time
