Anybody hear back from U washington yet?

Today is a great day! The University of Washington finally reviewed my application! (Sent it in the 12th of November!) My message says:

Your application has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available.

I've been waiting what seemed like decades to receive that message! When should I hear back from them? I'm hoping by the end of the week.

mmboys: If UW has any order at all while reviewing the applications your daughter's should be coming up soon. If I remember correctly we had about the same stats. (I have a 3.651/1220)

Anyway, I'll let you guys know when I hear anything.

Did you go from "waiting for preliminary review" to "Your app. has been reviewed"?
Or; did you get; "Initial review, decision pending" inbetween? Yes, my d is still waiting with her 3.55/1240. Good luck to you. I would say you should get a letter within a week based on past reporting on this board.

congrats...pretty sure ur in because those stats are pretty much as high as they get without going above 70 AI. Looks like the UW is sending acceptance letters to high 60's a little sooner. But others shouldnt really expect that because they usually give out the decisions almost all together at the end of March.

You should have ur acceptance package by the end of this week but it could come as soon as wednesday.

edit: mmboys a lot of pple above with 70+ AI seemed to go from "prelim rev" to "reviewed" and got their acceptance letters within a week. Others below USUALLY go from "prelim rev"---> "initial rev"---> "reviewed" (right now this still means acceptance if ur above 60 AI but in less than a month it could mean anything). Thus, I'm pretty sure Brett was given initial since he was below 70.

wow one of my friends also got the same message but he wont tell me his stats. He seems like a hard working guy but I remember him doing bad on the PSAT last year.

Interesting. It does seem like the dam is getting ready to break open. Brett is a 65
AI, my daughter is a 64. This all assumes they get the same GPA when they recalculate. It is still not clear to me what classes they use. Do they use all of them and simply change weighted to unweighted; or do they through and only calculate math, science and so on?

I think they take all classes. Because when I compared my cumulative GPA from every course ever taken on the chart I got 85. When I looked on MYUW.WASHINGTON.EDU and clicked on unofficial transcripts, it lists your AI. And they say 85 also for me. So it is for all courses, unweighted.

mmboys- lol... "til hell freezes over"

Yes, but you are forgetting the old geezer factor. I am allowed at least one major mental lapse a day (two or more if I am trying to multi-task (did I get that right?)!

Yay! Seems like the first non ~70AI review yet, so with my submission on Dec 2, and an AI of 65.. hopefully hear something in March. Let us know if you are in Brett, but getting a comp review now, with that AI I'd assume you are.

well i took your advice, and called up the UW admissions office yesterday, asking how long it would take to get a preliminary review. I was transferred to Sherry Chavoya (head admissions officer), who said that everybody is receiving reviews right now (who hasnt already gotten in, or is auto-admit), and that the system takes forever to be updated, so many people whose status says "awaiting a prelim. review", or "final decision pending" are actually being actively reviewed...hence, checking your status can be somewhat misleading. I was assured that they are actively at work every day, and are processing all applications as quickly as they can. Everybody will hear by April 15th, AT THE LATEST. I'm just hoping that mine has at least already received the preliminary review, and that they are looking at it, and thinking about it. Once I find out, I will finally be at peace, and can move on with my life, instead of hovering around the computer, checking my app. status and posting all the time, like a neurotic freak :)

Another person told me today that his status was changed to reviewed from initial...he had like a very low SAT score (gtta ask him again but less than 1100) and like a 3.7.

Well, a 3.7 gives you a pretty high AI even with a lower SAT score because the AI is 75% GPA.

Good to see that things seem to be moving for us needing a comprehensive review, seemed to do nothing for months.

wow thats rare that they admit to using auto-admits :P

If his SAT is from 1000 to 1099 with a 3.7 that would give him an AI of 61 - 64.

"The status of your application was last updated on February 28, 2005.

Your application has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available."

Does that mean I will find out whether or not I've been accepted pretty soon?

Maybe. What are your stats, if you don't mind? And, when did you apply?

I got in today! (3.651/1220)

Wait a minute!! You have an AA degree?? You are a transfer applicant; not a freshman applicant? That changes everything. I no longer consider you to be a comparable applicant to my d. I mean good luck, and I am glad you got in, but you already have two years of college.

Yay! I got accepted!!! I'm so happy.

Thats great, but if you ppl are gunna post stuff like that it would be nice to include either your GPA/SATs or AI.

Secondly, who has the AA.. if you are a running start student no matter how many credits you have, if you are applying before receiving your high school diploma and your only credits come from the running start program you have to apply as a freshmen and then transfer your credit upon acceptance.

Two of my friends got in and they finally decided to share their exact stats with me...

Case 1: SAT= 1370 GPA= 3.63 (No APs...weak EC's...smart guy but kind of lazy...his essay wasn't the best but acceptable...from Japan)

Case 2: SAT= 1010 GPA= 3.63 (No APs but RS....decent EC's...I believe he took ESL his first year of HS and speaks 4 languages...I also read his personal essay and thought it was excellent)

I'm surprised Case 2 got in this early but I got similar stats to his except I have pretty good EC's and SAT is higher.
