fireflyscout: I dont think that is true, I have gotten a number of pieces of mail from colleges that I never requested info from. And the sad part is, those schools got my PSAT scores before I did (I still don't have mine =( ).

Regarding college mailings: my oldest son was a NMF, but ranked 33% (brilliant slacker), he got letters from all the biggies - Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc., we were soooo impressed ;) But, he didn't have a chance in Hades of getting into any of those schools!!!!

Then my second son - not a great test taker, started getting letters from all the branches of the armed forces - he was in high demand because, I guess, they thought that with his dismal PSAT scores, that the only place he'd end up is in the Navy.

He was the Valedictorian of his class (hard worker, impatient test taker - did great on the ACT though) He is now a freshman in a great college (not on the high seas)!

In other words - it is a joke!! Don't worry about the junk mail in your mail box!

my national guard mail came in yesterday lol but i get a lot of junk mail letters from colleges...they send so many out to students its hard to take them seriously.
