Anyone else out there who is more likely to fly tomorrow than get an acceptance?

2030 SAT 32 ACT
2 of 700
Accepted at ND and NU
Rejected at Duke and Stanford
Waitlisted at WashU

We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

2310/3.7 - I’d like to think I used to have a chance, and then I got two C’s my first semester of senior year.

I think I have pretty okay stats, BUT I am an international seeking financial aid. Rejected/waitlisted so far at EVERY need aware school (rejected at Chicago, Williams, w/listed at Middlebury), so the chance that BROWN will accept me is slimmer than a size zero model chopped in half. I got into Amherst though, so I’m happy, but Brown’s one of my dream colleges for the FILM opportunities side by side with the strong academic focus.

I hate how people on CC try and discourage and put everyone else down, though. I like how this thread is more of a supportive, we’re all in the same boat! type of place, though.

I’m hoping I’ll get into Brown, but if not, I’m content.

I’m a URM with a 30 ACT, 3.8 GPA. But, I refuse to rely on my URM status. I have published poetry, and had my own poetry readings. I’m hoping they’ll like that last bit, and accept me :P

And meghnasridhar, I agree. People on CC can be so negative, but I’m glad this thread is so supportive.

2290, 4.06 W GPA (out of 4.5) with decreasing trend; counselor says I have some of the best EC accomplishments she’s seen, but didn’t save me from getting rejected from Duke.

I’ll probably be at Berkeley next year.
Good luck everyone!

2400 SAT, 4.0 GPA, Nobel Laureate. I think I’m in.

jkjk.

This is the situation i’m in too!! it sucks. I wanna go to brown so bad, it is my top choice, but I know I have like no chance at all. and its sad

2080 SAT, 32 ACT, 3.6/4.4, all IB… and just to throw it out there, is native hawaiian a URM? Haha if so, that might help me :stuck_out_tongue: I have awesome ECs and had a great interview, so im keeping my fingers crossed…

oh yeah! i forgot about that, I had a great interview too!! but idk. not very hopeful. I wish I would get in! I always wished at 11:11 for like the past 2 or 3 months kind of a sad story haha. well, you guys are right, there ARE miracles!!

25 ACT w/ 10 essay, A- average, top 13%, URM, 1st generation. Hey, I really love Brown so I definitely wanted to give it a shot instead of ruling myself out simply because I wasn’t the “typical” applicant. Still, I’m certain I’ll get rejected so I’ll log-in to my account tomorrow calmly, see my decision, and log-off. Maybe I’ll get a miracle.

well…
lets see how this looks for brown
2100 SAT
34 ACT (two times)
3.6 GPA (out of 4)
URM
6 EC’s (4 of 6 I am VP/equivalent or higher) (3 of 6 have been for two or more years) (1 of 6 i ‘created’ - really I was its first President appointed before it was created so I was able to shape it before it was established)

5+ awards from those 6 ECs
National Honors Society
Honor Roll (expected for ivies/quasi-ivies, of course)

I’m not going to ‘rate’ my own essays or Recs because everyone says “awesome essay” or “awesome Rec” but it’s soooo subjective

I’m hoping Brown likes something about me…really really realllllly hoping…actually it would qualify as praying.

i’m not getting into Brown. the other five students at my school who applied to Brown have higher scores, higher GPA’s, stronger transcripts, better ECs, etc etc etc. i have a better chance of receiving my Hogwarts letter tomorrow.

chora, I had around the same scores/GPA last year and I got into Brown. I’m a freshman here now and I love it.

DON’T GIVE UP HOPE!

3.3 UW.
33 Act, and some pretty good extracurriculars.

But miracles happen.

Just got rejected from JHU. WOOHOOOO -_____-
Brown is my only hope now! :frowning: dang itttt. Looks like I’ll be heading to Berkeley.

1970 SAT. 4.0 UW. 4.434 W. Rank 2 of 266. Applied as Engineer. Captain of Varsity Tennis team. Solar Energy Club Member for 3 years. 300+ hours of community service as a Science Teacher at a summer camp. And many other EC’s. Have taken 16 AP courses, the most my school offered. Class commissioner all 4 years at my high school. #1 student in AP Statistics. President of Bocce Ball Club and Vice of Tutoring Club for 3 years. I am white.

I expect a rejection letter tomorrow :(

recon, don’t give up hope yet! SAT is not everything, you might get surprised tomorrow.
Actually, I have a question for you, guys. It is about financial aid. How does this thing work? I know that when you apply, you state how much aid you would like to receive, but then what happens? Do they accept you first, and then tell you whether or not they would give you that much money or not, and you’ll have to decide if it’s not enough for you, whether you’ll find a way to pay for it and enroll, or decide not to go there. Or is it that you might be a perfect fit for Brown, maybe not 4.0 GPA and 2400 SAT, but still a competitive candidate, but just because you want a bigger financial aid, that they reject you? I’ve also heard people saying that if you get accepted, but offered less financial aid, that you’ve applied for, you can get a loan (I didn’t find out whether from the school, or government, or whatever), that you can pay back in years to come. I’m not an applicant this year, but I will be, and this concerns me a lot, since my parents won’t be able to pay even 1/3 of the money. I mean, there must be a way out for the smart, middle-class people, isn’t there?

Wish I had all your stats lol and I probably would have gotten into UGA :D

Good stats, first gen, from an underrepresented state, but super lame ECs and only okay essays. I’ve only been accepted by solid matches/safeties and one college that loves my HS. Rejected from Chicago and Tufts, and I’m 99% sure six more schools will be added to that list tomorrow, including the only school I love, Brown. :(

It’s good to know I’m not alone in this though, haha.

2230/3.94 UW/4.42 W with 10 APs and 4 years of varsity ice hockey, plus a captainship and chorus involvement, as well as volunteer work and a Jeopardy! appearance. Ranked in the top 2.4% of a class of ~305.

Meh. I don’t know. I got into NU and BU, but rejected from UChicago and MIT and waitlisted at Vanderbilt.
