Amen. :-p

I really hope it's the 18th

palermo: Thanks...i found it...right in front of me too. whoops.

All, I work with the Scholars Foundation and recieved word that the after-hours phone branch was referencing a deadline extension.

We are very sorry for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused you. However, the deadline stands as January 12.

Technical issues have not prevented a significant majority of the 2,000+ Semifinalists from receiving and mailing application materials as directed by the deadline.

Semifinalist applications will be reviewed February 1-4. Materials are processed through the end of January.

Again, we are very sorry for the confusion. If you have furhter questions, please email ccsfsemifin@na.ko.com

i also just called in, and they said that the official deadline is the 12th, BUT they're going to give equal consideration to the 18th because it was a mistake on their part according to the guy..

I know this is a bit premature but does anybody know how the Coke scholarship works if you're getting either a full ride or full tuition scholarship? Is it only up to the total value of the tuition and fees, or can it be used for "any educational expense" ex-study abroad, books, room & board?

many thanks!

How important do you guys think the essays are?

Two of my short answers were pretty good, but my long essay wasn't so hot

so, what WAS the deadline?

jan 12; i had to overnight my package.

on the semifinalist servlet, was the "received status" item only for when they were originally going to upload those forms? b/c i know my stuff has arrived (yay fedex!), but nothing had changed on that...yes i know i'm a bit paranoid!

ps thanks to all who shared info during this crazy situation!

Hmm...each of my forms listed says "received" next to it. They got mine on January 11th...I overnighted on the 10th! Anyway, does anyone know what SAT score they'll consider. Because on the intial app i only had my december 05 scores of...but in October (after I had submitted my app) I recieved a much higher score..so I had my counselor put that score on her report. I hope they consider the October 06 score.

Does anyone know what most important part of the application is? SATs? Essays?

thanks GG, I'm all set now...

I'm sure they'll consider the higher, more recent SAT scores...the separate section for 2006 ensure being up-to-date volunteer service, so why not for SATs? good luck to all! hopefully many CCers will make it to Atlanta!

hey, anyone have any idea on how many semifinalists actually bothered to submit apps? I know that's a prob (sort of! not for the applicants!) for NM, so I was wondering about this one, since the 4 essays could have deterred anybody still in the midst of regular college apps...

for me, the chance of that amount of $ seems worth it, but I'm not sure about others...they pick 250 finalists out of the 2000 semifinalists?

the essays weren't the hardest part for me...i found the timing incredibly difficult. We found out Dec 12. On Dec. 16 my school dismissed for holidays. So I only had one day to catch my counselor and ask her for a rec because she left for holidays early. Then I got my other letter of rec from an organizational head that took the holidays off also. She wrote the letter after she returned to work Jan. 8. The next day she overnighted it to me in the state in which I live, where we matched it up with my application and counselor's rec, and overnighted it again to Atlanta. I thought it was difficult to expect people to write a letter of rec over their Christmas holiday.

on another topic, the website still shows my app not received. Does anyone else have this same situation?

My daughter's application is still shown as not received. She overnighted it through the Post Office and has a time of delivery and the name of the person who signed for it on the morning of the 11th. I suppose she'll have to call or email next week if this keeps up. Nervous making.

The timing was pretty bad and resulted in her not getting the letter of recommendation she would have wanted, altough she did pull off having the required number. We shall see. We kept thinking of the semifinalists who had even greater problems: lots of applications, holiday travel, and exams.

It's going to feel like a lottery.

Good luck to all of you and thanks again for your help.

I overnighted mine on the tenth and it still says that it was not received.

Waterfall - Keep checking. Earlier today they posted part of my daughter's list of documents as received.

This is almost funny at this point. I'm sure the people at Coke are overwhelmed with all the mail and don't have any idea that it is almost impossible for some students to use a telephone or the 'net during weekday business hours. They'd probably be upset if they knew how much frustration the document confirmation situation is causing.

My daughter says that, as of early in the morning, her biographical statement form (the basic application and essays) was finally marked "received" on the list when she logged in on website. Her educator form, which she uploaded as well as mailed, has been saying "received" for several weeks (ever since it was uploaded). There is no indication either way about her school forms and recommendations, which the school supposedly (and undoubtedly) put in the envelope before sealing it and turning it over to be taken to the Post Office for Express Mail on the 10th.

Those of you whose documents are marked as "received on the website: Is this the way your document lists look, or do you have a "received" by each form on your list?

Thank you for your help.

Grace--
not sure if this was just to waterfall, or to all, but here's what mine shows:

SF Biographical Questionnaire Download Received
Secondary School Report with Transcript Download Received
SF Recommendation Form 1 Download Received
SF Recommendation Form 2 Download Received
SF Educator of Distinction Form Download Received

wow, that gets kinda mixed when it's pasted here...all of mine were marked received at the same time, so hopefully things work out for you! i didn't upload anything, so i don't know how that part worked...good luck!

aaarrrggghhh

They still don't show mine as received!!! I'm going to give them another day or two, but I hope they get it posted soon. This is crazy!

My son's list doesn't say anything has been received - instead it says that two parts are NOT received even though everything was sent in one package and nothing uploaded.

^^^^^^^

same holds true for me...

zel17 - thanks for your help. My daughter's list now looks just like what you described (except that there is an extra symbol beside the educator form to indicate it was uploaded).

For the rest of you who are still waiting - This just gets weirder and weirder. Yesterday the website said "received" for the educator form (as it had since the upload long ago) and "received" for the bio/application (this was new as it used to say "not received" or something like that). All of the other documents had just had "downloaded" beside them, but yesterday "downloaded" had been removed. Today, all of the documents (recommendations, school rerport, etc.) have been marked as "received" for the first time.

So my daughter seems to be in good shape and we can infer that someone is still logging in the documents. I hope that everyone's will be logged in soon. Good luck.
