ohhh trin you are so mean you ditched my kid !!

and still bragging… everyone above is this merit or that scholar, you know…

S of bears and dogs - groovin’

ok…we can go on now

Interesting to see there’s no same schools so far. I was looking on the main CC page at the thread for schools that still have openings. Among them were MCAD, Ringling, SMFA, UArts ¶, Columbia Chicago (not surprising), MassArt and PrattMWP. Was surprised to see Ringling, SMFA & MassArt on the list.

By the way, the job seems to have come through! Waiting on details, but that’s sure a load off my mind. On another note, Purchase sent a note saying that if D wishes to reconsider at a later date, that she should contact them.

Congrats glutenmom!!!

Congrats gluten mom!

Great news glutenmom!!!

Ok- Ill play too! Its the happiest thing I have going on right now, since in other news we are fighting to save our sons art magnet program, which is run with incredible results for the kids, only two staff, and no adminstrative or transport budget. They are cutting one position which amounts to 50% of the staff.

switters
what!?
it’s not the teacher you mentioned!?!?!?!
what do you have to do?
I will put my name down on petition if that do any good?

switters - good luck with trying to save the program. I think the program at D’s school won’t be the same after the portfolio teacher is forced out. There is another teacher “waiting in the wings” to take his place as soon as he’s booted out and has even made veiled threats that he better start looking, because she wants his job. Since they want to change the curriculum to replace portfolio with art history, kids who really want to attend an art school after graduation will be at a huge disadvantage. D feels extremely luck to be graduating before this happens.

Fun game…haha

I’ll include myself, with the completely made up acronym of A as opposed to S or D (for Anthony, and awesome, lol)

A - SAIC ( The guy who is going to be 30 when he graduates )

30 is new 21 especially for guys

As a late note: RISD sent daughter a letter requesting additional information to finalize her financial aid award. This was awkward because:

She had already sent the documentation requested during the application process, and

She was denied admission almost 3 weeks before this letter was dated.

I sent them a note asking if they knew something we didn’t or if they needed to review their processes. They wrote back saying that no, she’s not admitted, they’re very sorry, they have a new system, and they clearly need to work some stuff out about it.

If I were you I’d be like, OMG OMG they must have made mistake and now they gotta have enuff leftover funds and gonna give us full ride!!
My hands would be shaking as I type e-mail to inquire about it then walk around room biting my nails waiting for their reply.
NOT!!
I would have blown my nose in the letter or made origami airplane already without ever telling my kid or anyone else for that matter.
It is kinda sad in both ends.

TRin…gosh that is pretty horrible. My fantasy would be to produce the letter along with the original rejection, for when DD becomes fabulously well known and is asked to be a visiting artist at RISD…

and name her kid Rizdee if it’s a girl, in twisted spirit of Steve Jobs and Reed

Trin - nothing like adding insult to injury.

now I remember last summer my kid was at interview stage for internships at museum but declined it because other stuff came through and dates were conflicting.
They sent him official rejection letter later on anyway. I saved it because it was very nice paper stock and all contact names and numbers are on it.

There this super grandma who gotten kicked out of Ivy school’s Ph.D. program 40 something years ago wrote brainy best selling book.
She had saved the letter telling her to get lost all these years and when they wanted to give her award which ironically named after the prof that caused her to leave, she was able to pull out the letter and read at the ceremony. How cool is that?

second fammom, it become useful one day, put in the acid free archive box, if you haven’t blown your nose or clipped (bitten to the nubbin) fingernails on it and balled up and thrown away already.

I didn’t realize until having my first seniors how much chaos there is in the process!

D1 was told by one school that the nursing program was full (3 months before deadline), but that if she wanted to be considered for regular admission to call someone at some number and let them know. She wasn’t interested and didn’t call. Then she got a letter on April 2nd saying she was on a waiting list! For what exactly?

At another school, they wanted to interview her before deciding. The interviewer likes her, automatically accepts her (this is around March 28th or so) and then we never hear anything from them again! No letter of acceptance, no financial stuff, nothing! D1 didn’t want to go there anyway so no biggie, but very mysterious.

I heard from someone here that there may be work-study students working in these offices and that may be contributing to the general lack of order. Who knows? Someone should write an expose.
