has anyone heard anything regarding waitlist acceptances from UF so far?
- I heard that they are not planning on pulling anyone from the waitlist at all this year. This makes me wonder why they decided to apply it this year in first place since the 2005 freshman class was entirely full. It doesn't make any sense. Besides, if they knew that no one would be accepted from the beginning, why not notify the students early so that they don't have to wait anxiously for a unrealistic decision?

some of the people that were rejected at first got in...i don't know about waitlist though

My son was accepted on appeal, (I guess that is different than wait list???)
He heard Tuesday the 2nd, and we paid our deposit Wednesday so he is in!!!!!!

Of course they left a message on tuesday or monday on the answering machine and no check that but me and I was out of town. And they only gave us 48hrs to make the deposit or appeal/acceptance would be declined. I had just checked it tusday evvening and had to make payment by 11:00am wednesday. Thank god I checked the messages or we would not have knew.
You'd think they would try to contact us another way or given more time. OMG!!

Talk about close one, oh well water under the bridge, just glad he is in!!

When we called orginally after he was declined and as to be put on the waiting list they say he was declined for that also. They also wouldn't tell us why he was declined. Come to find out my son hadn't sent in any letters of recommendation. (Ihit him upside the head for that one). Of course I can't be sure that is the reason, but you think they would of told me that over the phone. I only found out because I was asking my son how many letters of recommendation he sent in, so he could send more for his appeal. Then he tells me he forgot!!! OMG

So he sent in 7 letters of recommendation with his appeal lus some other stuff
and he was accepted. So there is hope for other (maybe)!! But I think if anyone was to be accepted now they would have heard already.

Now we just gotta figure out housing, they told us housing is now full!!

krnforsale, what do you mean some people that were rejected at
first got in? Are you saying that they appealed the decision, etc...?
- Yeah, I was informed by the committee that it is unlikely they will pull anyone from the waitlist. Like you said winnies, housing and classes are already full.

I guess they created the whole waitlist thing in order to reduce the acceptance rate and go up in the usnews and other rankings. Also, when I called them, I was told that something like 80 or 85% of the decision was made based on GPA and SAT. So, if you had a low sat and average GPA, it is improbable that recommendations will save, unless they are wonderful , of course.

^actually i know a lot of ppl..well not a lot but people with like 2.8 and even 2.7 gpa's with like...maybe 1290 sat scores that got in. But we do go to Eastside High School. it was ranked 4th in the nation and we're IB. we also live in gainesville...so maybe that gave them a lil bit more advantage.
