anyone know of people who got in with SATs below 1800?

I was wondering if anyone knew of friends or acquaintances who got in UNC with SATs 1800 and below? and what their stats were?

I had a friend alst year who got in with 1600 SAT and she was 14th in her class. but she was a black french girl who moved to USA from France when she was 8. i think that was her "hook". she was also semi-ionvolved in a lot of things. couple APs but never passed any of them

oh and she was in state

Tyler hansboro

Yeah I'm also curious about this too...
I mean I've known people who have gotten in with around 1800-1900..but eh still.

I'm just really hoping that the fact that I'm a minority will be able to outweigh my poor SAT score...

what kinda minority are u? I'm african (not african american)

Oh that's cool. I'm middle-eastern (Palestinian). But now that I think about it...I'm not quite sure if I ever addressed: Palestinian...but rather just middle-eastern.

I'm not sure if that really helps though. I've heard certain minorities are more advantageous over others...but I'm not quite sure about that and I'm not sure how I stand in that regards.

oh yeah ure fine considering your stats

really depends on what they are looking for this year according to those more experienced than us. as far as Tyler goes we all know what an asset he is to Carolina and that makes him very appealing no matter what his stats were.

Hey Astranger is English your first language. If you speak several languages you might have an in. Are you IS or OOS

i speak two languages. and english wasn't my first. if anyone cares to know i speak akan and that's what i speak at home.

who is tyler??

tyler hansboro

Hansbrough*

If you don't know who Tyler/Psycho T is, then you may want to research UNC a little bit more before deciding to attend.

Anyway, I do know of a few people, but they are either athletes or minorities for the most part.

Yeah..I grew up speaking two languages fluently (English included). So I hope that helps. And I'm instate.

I remember for Scholarship Day, every table has a little balloon with a famous alumni's name on it. I sat down at Roy Williams' table.

I looked to everyone and asked, "So who's Roy Williams?!"

Bad move. Bad, bad move. It's even worse because my brother was a junior there at the time. I had no excuse.

Cloying: Too too funny....that's why God gave us all a sense of humor, it comes in handy at times like this. Hope you have a Happy New Year!

cloying,

Sounds like one of those Southwestern Airline commercials..."Want to get away?" See if you can get us a ticket for that Scholarship Day.

I know of people who have been admitted with a lot lower SAT scores than that, but are very well rounded people. These students are doing well at Carolina - they are hard workers. Carolina looks at it all - not just SAT's. I also know people who had SAT's of 2100 and 2200 who did not get in. It is the whole picture they are looking at.

So knowing this random kid is now a requirement for admission??
