Anyone received acceptances letters yet?

My son applied for the Park Scholarship. He is interested in television and broadcast. He is also waniting on Syracuse,Brandeis,Emerson, Bard and Weslyan. ( got into Rutgers) Where else did you apply?

I also applied to Hollins University & Randolph-Macon Woman's College, both small lib. arts women's colleges in VA. Ithaca is my first choice, though, assuming that scholarships and financial aid come thru to make it possible.

Has your son gotten to visit Ithaca? I have not, so I'd love to hear about the school!

Just a tip from a current Parkie Ipart...if your son is considering Syracuse over Ithaca, be aware that he won't get to touch a camera until his Junior year...at Ithaca, you get hands on experience, using top-notch equipment your freshman year.

Also, Syracuse's TV station was recently shut down for poor student conduct on shows. I don't know if it has been reinstated yet or not.

I don't mean to sway you from one school...just thought I'd point out what I had heard about the school.

lpart~

What did your son put down as his major for Ithaca?

Thanks for the info-when we went to visit both schools that was the feeling we had-that Ithaca was very hands on. He is waiting to hear from all the schools but I think that Ithaca offers him everything he wants.(and hopefully some money)

Theater chic-broadcasting,television,etc

I applied to Ithaca under the regular decision plan. I sent in my application before Christmas and I read in a college guide book that Ithaca has "rolling admissions". I know the final date for apps. was today (2/1) Does anyone know about the time that I will hear a decision? I live in MA and applied to the school of arts&sciences.

Thank you!!

I have a friend who lives in MA and applied to Arts and Sciences and just got accepted

I originally posted my S. was accepted early decision in Radio and TV, he's going to be a sound recording major! I graduated from Ithaca in '74
in theater and speech! It's amazing to have a child pick your school as their favorite. Congrats to all who are choosing Ithaca. It was an amazing experience and a great place to go. Cam

i finally got in today! i got accepted for integrated marketing communications, but i think i want to switch to television/radio. i also got a $4,000 deans scholarship. its between ithaca and syracuse now, but i didnt get into newhouse at syracuse, so im leaning towards ithaca (especially with the scholarship).

I got my acceptance letter today!

I got my acceptance letter from Ithaca for Politics a few weeks ago

gummirules, Paris87, and bsennett-

Congrats on your acceptances! How likely are you each to go to Ithaca? Perhaps we will end up as classmates in the fall.

I'm definitely considering it- I got a Dean's Scholarship- but I have to see where else I get in and what kind of financial aid packages I recieve.

im 99.99999% sure im going. i still have to visit again (april 8th) just to make sure, but between the scholarship i got (and im still waiting to hear from the leadership scholarship), the nine credits i already have from APs (which i dont have other places), and the fact that i got into the major i wanted, its more like "why WOULDNT i go there?"

Hey gummirules. I am literally in the EXACT same situation as you. I wanted to go to newhouse yet i got rejected. I got into Art and sciences, however, I am worried that I wont be able to transfer into Newhouse. A 3.5 is rather hard to have freshman year. I got into Ithaca with a Deans Scholarship into the Integrated Marketing program. However,I am still debating between the two schools. Chances are, I will end up at Ithaca. It is a very hard decision though. Any opinions?!

well, i figured it this way. syracuse's program is the sort of "prestigous" communications school, but when it comes right down to it, ithaca is equally good, and known for being more hands on. transferring into newhouse is really hard, they require a really high GPA. but even then youre still not guaranteed to get in. i wasnt willing to compromise on what i really want to do, i dont know how you feel about having to just pick something else, but i didnt want to settle.

Thanks! Good point. I just think I would spend too much of my time stressing over my GPA, rather than enjoying myself, and I know, I want to have fun. haha. I am pretty sure I am going to Ithaca anyway, but thank you. Well, I think I will be there April 8th as well, but I am not sure yet.

Hi I got my acceptance to the Parks School back in January. i got accepted to cinema and photo. My letter did not come with any notifiction of deans or pres. scholarship. I am wondering (if you dont mind)what your stats are to have qualified for the 4000 scholarship. I am a bit disappointed that they did not give me any merit aid. I have a 3.8 gpa weighted and 2030 boards (760cr 570 m and 700w) lots of EC and 4AP classes after sr.year. Any one have any ideas how they give the merit aid out? I am not going to get anything on FAFSA so i was counting on some merit aid schol. I have received many merit scholarhsips from other schools like Hampshire, Rollins, Green Mountain, and Stonybrook, but nothing from Ithaca yet.

I applied RD and got my acceptance letter about a week or two ago.

I have a 3.9 weighted GPA. I got a 640 math, 640 reading, and 720 writing. I am actually really surprised that you got no money from them. I have taken 5 APs and the rest honors, and i am the captain of lacrosse & tennis.
