Anyone out there waiting on a decision from Boston Univ? It's my D's 1st choice after not making into CMU (which was a long shot anyway as we all know). I was super impressed with them (Paolo in particular) in Chicago but don't know much about the school specifically. Haven't seen the campus yet, but will visit if D is accepted. If you are hoping to get in to BU can you share why you want to go there? What makes it a great, or not great, school for theater students?

Welcome! We are also waiting to hear who gets accepted into BU. My S was accepted ED, and we are looking forward to “meeting” some of his potential classmates on CC!

My son’s reasons for loving BU: He went to their summer program. Intense courses, and wonderful faculty and admin (Paolo and others). Said he never worked so hard in his life, and loved every challenge. Loved Boston! Felt at home on the BU campus, which is more like a neighborhood. We saw one of their productions (Assassins) and it was very well done, and a musical to boot. S does not want musical theatre training at all, and BU doesn’t offer that, but he liked the fact that BU put on a musical anyway - LOL! He is very excited about the additional semester that is offered after graduation, in LA, where the kids do a few internships (networking). He absolutely LOVED John Savage who is the program director for design, and is looking forward to working with him (even tho S is in the BFA for acting). He said the upperclassmen have been very welcoming, contacting him a few times already, inviting him into Boston to see their shows and inviting him to lunch on the accepted student day (coming up in April sometime). He liked that the faculty didn’t press for “stardom” but for the kids to make a living as actors.

Hope you hear soon! Sorry about CMU, BTW. Hope you D gets through it okay.

I’ll echo Marbleheader’s thoughts. We also like the fact that it seems very creative and encouraging of interdisciplinary collaboration. I’m not sure where it stands on our list. We’re waiting to hear from 3 more schools and then go visiting.

There is a Regular Decision thread on the BU forum. All the folks there say the portal is now down, which apparently last year it went down right before it was updated with all the acceptances! So you may all be hearing quite soon!

Good luck to all!

Anyone receive acceptances from BU yet? I heard calls are being made and emails are starting to go out.

Acceptances are up according to the BU Regular Decision thread. The info is on their portals apparently. Some happy, some sad over on that thread.

My S is OMGing and WootWooting! He is IN – BFA Acting!!!

Yeeeeesssssssss! So happy for you, AdaQuince. Your S has a boat-load of choices! Does he have a first-choice yet, or is he planning on weighing all the options.

Congrats!

Wow, AdaQuince, congrats–he DOES have great options!! Can’t go wrong!

He is researching and definitely weighing options. I am not sure he has a first choice at this point. He had his face to the screen last night pouring over info to all the places he has been accepted. He started with a list that only included schools where he knew he would be happy. So that makes it much harder now. Yikes! The next month and half will be pretty exciting!

Congrats AdaQuince!

Accepted this morning! BFA Acting!! (hopefully theatre arts eventually)

Yea!!! Sorry for being personal, whatsgood0 - are you a girl or guy?

just go wait listed. does any one know if a lot of people get off of the list???

Congrats to AdaQuince and Whatsgood! Great acceptances!!

Geekgirl, hang in there!

Yay! My D has been accepted (BFA Acting) and a merit scholarship too! Time now to schedule a campus visit ASAP. She’s had other acceptances but I think this is going to be the one.

Congrats lesoso and others! Rejection here…which was expected…he didn’t feel good about his audition for BU.

A big congratulations to AdaQuince’s son, Whatsgood0 and Lesoso! My son is a senior at BU…please feel free to ask me questions if you have any.

I’m a girl and auditioned at NY Unifieds. Thanks everyone :)
