Anyone wishing a republican president was in??

@Opie — you're amazing :)

Ralph Nader!!!!!!!

Well, I would rather have a more Conservative/Libertarian president, but it is what it is. However, there are a lot of things that could change for the better (IMO):

-Institute a flat 10% tax rate. This would ensure true fairness to me. You shouldn't penalize people for having money, you should encourage more to reach that level. Don't take from the rich just because they have.
-Lower the corporate tax rates. The growth of business is essential to a capitalist society. But I am generally against taxes all together...
-Don't close Gitmo until you actually have a place to put the prisoners! Okay, they're getting trials, that's fair. It's the right thing to do. But we can't just shut down the prison and then go, "OH ****! WHERE DO THEY GO NOW?" Pelosi quickly rejected the idea of re-opening Alcatraz. Not in my district!
-Don't nationalize the banks. Just don't.

I could probably think of plenty more. I was all against Obama policy wise. But we can't change it for four years, so let's hope for the best (Pun intended).

Opie is a genius.

Agree with everything you said...Didn't want to sound like a racist but here are some stats on welfare:

White 38.8%
Black 39.8
Hispanic 15.7
Asian 2.4
other 3.3

To break down these numbers, we look at how many Whites are in the population as a WHOLE. If Blacks make up less 14% of the population and are almost 40% of all receipients, then they represent about 2.5 times their actual population. Since Whites are over 50% of the total US pop., they represent less than their overall piece of the pie, population-wise. Hispanics are at least 15% of the general population, so they take only about as much as what their population represents. Why am I writing this? Because I am tired of the misrepresentations on this issue. I read so many on here claiming that more Whites are on welfare than Blacks (true, in terms of raw numbers), yet not accounting for the fact that there are over 4X as many Whites in this country than Blacks!

To everyone who called me a racist: Sorry for telling the truth :D

Sorry, but you made some sweeping generalizations that I didn't agree with very much. For example, #1, which obviously came from the perspective of someone who doesn't know anyone on welfare. I do. She's a young single mother, is educated, hard-working, and relatively intelligent. She's trying to work towards a degree and raise her two children at the same time. Way to stereotype.

Obama obama obama!

Personally i think Hilary is the devil.... ok mayb not the devil but close to it. She's only out for personal gain and power

Lanks, did you ever consider WHY that is? Do you honestly think that slavery and the racism that followed set African Americans back in terms of economic capability. Did you consider that until fifty years ago, black children in the south were forced to attend seriously underfunded schools? Did you consider that those children who were not given the oppertunity to seriously pursue an education didn't have the chance to get a good job? And then that person would bee forced into a cycle of poverty that continues today? No, you did not think about that. So I suggest you do the next time you bash reparations and basically accuse all African Americans of being lazy. Because that is complete nonsense.

BTW poverty is often considered a "sickness" by scientists because it is so difficult to cure.

What politicians aren't out for personal gain and power, honestly?

I am extremely anti "The WHITE man" attitude and " it's the man that's holding us back" but coming from an actual black person, racism/sexism in the work force is very true. But I still don't think this should stop minorities from getting a job

Opie +1

@ OP:
1) Some people are poor and can barely survive off their work. How do you think they can pay for an education if they barely afford the necessities without the government's help? America is one people. We should be helping those who are struggling the most during times like these if we are fortunate enough to earn a high salary.
2) Agree with AeroEngineer3141.
3) They should get back what they deserve.

"These aliens, blacks, mexicans and all aliens complain when they can't get a job saying that white people are the only ones hired... Very untrue... It's because they can't speak f***in english properly!! I'm sick of it..."

I find this extremely unfair. For one thing, when do aliens complain about not getting jobs? If anything, often white people complain that aliens take their jobs. Also, saying that all aliens, blacks and mexicans cannot get jobs because they can't "speak f***in english properly" is ridiculous. This is just a generalization against people of other races. Mexicans and blacks are often US citizens, who can, in fact "speak the language.

There is just something sneaky and scheming about her that I don't like. Plus she is very pompous. At least other politicians make me BELIEVE they really want to help. She doesn't give off that impression at all.

Are you referring only to income tax, or are you including things like capital gains?

I hate how all the "colored" people all of a sudden became partiotic when Obama won, but they cannot name his vice president or secretary of state.

Hillary would have fixed our economy in a snap.

"You shouldn't penalize people for having money, you should encourage more to reach that level. Don't take from the rich just because they have."

So you should take what little the poor have and then take even more of what they don't have, ensuring that they will never reach the level of income you speak of?

"These aliens, blacks, mexicans and all aliens complain when they can't get a job saying that white people are the only ones hired... Very untrue... It's because they can't speak f***in english properly!! I'm sick of it..."

Hmm, I thought America didn't have an official national language. Also, think of how many Americans go to other countries and expect them to speak English even if the country's national language is Italian, French, or German (or others).

"1) Welfare is stupid - its made for lazy poor people who dont work and never got an education while the hard working, well educated americans have to pay for them."

What makes you think you understand every single person's motives for having to be put on welfare?! My mom has been searching for a job non-stop since she got laid-off because of the bad economy and she thought that welfare was for lazy people, just 2 months ago she finally agreed to get help because she knew there was no way for her continue living like we've been. Just because you've come from a priveleged home, don't think that those of us whose homes aren't as nice are just "lazy poor people". Don't pretend to understand how humiliating it feels to be put on welfare and having to admit you need help. Sorry if I'm rude, this just hit to close to home for me.

There's a better word than colored. but other than that i agree. they wouldn't even give Bush the time of day.

I guess I'm just a racist... maybe if I were to ignore the obvious and cover up the truth I wouldn't be such a huge arrogant racist of which im being called...

I hate all this talk of "white man gettin' me down". This is rarely true and its just an excuse for the 'colored' people.

lol... lanks is a racist and a troll.

not ONE person in this thread said "the white man getting me down" or anything of the sort. you are clearly trying to stir up a race war.

am extremely anti "The WHITE man" attitude and " it's the man that's holding us back" but coming from an actual black person, racism/sexism in the work force is very true. But I still don't think this should stop minorities from getting a job

Someone did say it.................................
