i failed. epically. i’m expecting a 2. i honestly don’t know how some people self-study this for 2-3 months and get 5s.

And you wanna know what?? AT LEAST YOU GUYS PUT AN ARTIST DOWN FOR THAT QUESTION.

Yeah that’ll be perfect as long as you made reference to a specific painting of his. Franz Marc and Kandinsky were the best choices for it I’m pretty sure.

I thought multiple choice was okay, long essays were easy, short responses were bad. >.<

That was the one question that screwed me over.

@Akehaten: Please don’t put so many specifics down; only 48 hours until we can discuss the FRQs in detail. Until then, please refrain from detailing the pictures.

And it was Mannerist.

@ Akhenaten - I didn’t take the exam, but it sounds like you’re describing Fiorentino’s Descent from the Cross. If so, that’s Mannerist.

Oh and I know that they didn’t want us to use egyptian examples, but if I did use the Armana relief of Akhenaten and his family for the first long essay, are they really going to deduct points? It’s not really fair to ask a question specifying “outside the european tradition” and not accept Egyptian art.

It was clearly specified this year that they did not want Egyptian or Near-Eastern art used on the free-responses. I doubt they’ll give you marks for it :(

^I agree with Jake. Egyptian art is considered to be part of the western tradition for the purposes of the exam. No points, bud. Sorry. :(

the AP says that it will not accept prehistoric art for those questions and that the “intent” of the questions is to solicit an answer that’s not ancient near east or egyptian. It doesn’t really in definitive terms say that you won’t get credit for it. That’s why I was kind of thrown off.

Well if you aren’t fulfilling the intent of the question why should they give you points? They may be lenient this year, but giving full marks would completely negate the changes they announced.

For the last one I forgot the name of kandiskys paintin but I did describe it. And for the first one I also used that Egyptian example. Does that mean I’ll get zero pts for that essay

i took ap art history last year and got a 5 but i got lucky with the short essays. easy as hell

Yeah, for the kandinsky one, I kind of described a slightly obscure one I saw in a museum. Is that unacceptable?

^If it’s art that really exists and you described it well enough with regards to the question, you will be fine.

However, PLEASE stop referring to the specific questions. Wait 48 more hours.

The MC was easy and the essays were BSable. This is coming from a guy who had a ****ty ass teacher and crammed the night and morning of the test.

Essay 1

Essay 2

Overall I’m shocked I did so well. I guess I made it so much harder in my head!

chill, ksarmand, everybody here appears to be referencing the questions.

the power of one: I had a ****ty teacher too. We didn’t get through half the material before the test. I had to cram cram cram. I was pleasantly surprised by the multiple choice.

I’m quite calm, actually; I would just like this thread to escape the wrath of the moderators.

@The Power of One: Wow, I pretty much used the SAME examples for the essays, except for the Augustus of Primaporta. I used the Equestrian statue of Charlemagne from Carolingian art haha!

Edit: I thought the test was pretty easy. MC was ok, first 2 essays were easy, and the last 7 essays were alright, despite the fact that I had troubles with the quote essay. Most likely a 4, hoping for a 5.

WOW. So I didn’t have an actual class for this course, and I used the REA book - which told me that I would be allowed to use Near Eastern art for my non-European example. I memorized 25 works of Indian, Chinese, and Japanese art and 5 works of Near Eastern and Egyptian. It just so happened that one of the Near Eastern works I memorized was one that EXACTLY fit the question, while the other works I memorized did not. I’m so depressed. I tried so hard on that question.
