Yup it was CE.

■■■… I even wrote it was late 18th cent -_-

I’m so glad about the Egyptian email that was sent
to your teacher that’s such a relief for me. I thought the quilt question was weird and hard, but other than that it wasn’t too bad.
Essay 1 : Marriage a la mode and Menkaure and his wife
Essay 2: The Equestrian Statue of a Carolingian ruler and untitled by Francis Bacon

Do the graders take points off if I gave the wrong artist but correctly named and described the artwork?

which movement was the japanese influenced print from??

I think it
was Impressionism

yeah. Mary Cassatt is impressionism :)

are you SURE it was CE?!!??!?!

i used pantokrator and marcus aurelius… that would’ve been so good if it was BCE!!! how marked down will I be??? and also… i said houdin’s washington was realism -_- how marked down will i be… I wrote it was realism because it was a contemporary person and not a recreation of a classical figure or person… crud.

and for the first one… i used akhenaton/nefirtiti and goya’s charles 4 - how’s that?

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but the Pollock was a poor choice for that question. The question focused on a specific area and viewpoint; a fauvist painting would have missed the point completely as well, for example.

what do you think the curve will be for the test???

Let’s say I got 15-20 wrong (10-12 blank) on MC
then let’s say

a really good long essay
a half good long essay (based on the BCE/CE thing)

and all good short answers in exception to the houdin’s washington and BSing the expressionism one. do i have hope for a 5???

I think a 5 is possible assuming you do get the points you can on the half good essay. I could be wrong though. I think the curve this year might do some weird things because of the weird stance on Egyptian/Near-Eastern art. Who knows, I might just be ill-informed because I self-studied.

weird things as in be higher or lower?

Lower I think.

lower as in it’s going to be easier to get a 5? lol. what is the usual percent needed to get a 5?

Yeah. My REA review guide claims that 67.5%+ on the test is a 5, but I think that it’s probably a bit higher now.

the higher it is… isn’t that the harder it is??? like if it’s 68% or whatever… won’t that mean if it’s 72% or higher it means it’s harder to get a 5? i’m confused.

You guys, I have a really stupid question … when they say “beyond the European tradition,” does that mean works from the United States are okay? I always got the impression that we were obligated to pull works from India or Japan or something, but I couldn’t think of anything for the first free-response except American Gothic. Like, logically since America is most certainly not a part of Europe it should be alright, but um … it’s still “Western” and … … yeah. Just wondering. :P

I think Art History will be the only exam I get less than a 5 on in my high school career, but I can’t even be bothered to care anymore. Whoo apathy!

^Yes, art from the US is considered beyond the European tradition.

^^ppmirmov, don’t even bother anymore. You took the test and you’re done. Now all you have to do is wait for July, when test scores are released… Haha.

Art from the US isn’t considered beyond the European tradition, especially not a work like American Gothic. Maybe if you had used something Postmodern you’d have a case, but most American art stems from the European tradition…

^ Actually, American art is considered beyond the European tradition. You can find this info from CollegeBoard’s website.
