electrolytic cells?

electrolysis reaction is carried out in an electrolytic cell. it employs an external source of electricity to drive a nonspontaneous electrochemical reaction. negative terminal of external source is connected to the cathode of the cell. positive with the anode. current carrying medium within an electrolytic cell could be salt. products of electrolysis can generally be predicted by comparing reduction potentials associated w/ possible oxidation and reduction processes.

electrodes can be involved in electrolysis reaction. active electrodes are important in electroplating and in metallurgical processes.

..yeahhh don't think that helped.

swtandsour i was trying to answer your question cos electrolytic cell involves reversing the half reactions to change reduction potentials to oxidation potentials by changing the +/- sign or vice versa lol

oh hahahah

thanks. care to further explain that? i'm pretty much lost at that

All-nighter... I'll try NOT to pull one... but I probably will study for another 3 hours or so before sleeping. 1 am isn't THAT bad ;)

In electrolytic cells, do you reverse the reactions so they are in the direction they actually happen (thus changing the sign on reduction potential) and then only take the 2 most positive.

^kinda, all u have to do is look at the reduction potentials, (higher-reduced, lower-ox) then u just do (reduction-oxidation) using the reduction potential. So when you do it u dont realy have to change the sign

i'm going to go. thank you to everyone for all the help. good night and good luck!

buffered solutions and everything. quick outline. Don't know if that's of any help.

hmm.. I dont know what my predicted AP score will be... when I took the barrons test I got a raw score of 45 on the MC, but on the real 2002 ap test, i got a 35. I thought barrons was harder? lol

OMG, AP CHEM IN THE MORNING
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Personally, I'm a little screwed for the open response. I'm going for a very low 5

good luck everyone

good luck all!

good luck!!

good luck guys. we got this =)

Good luck to each and everyone of you!

alrite good luck nubs!

it was kind of hard
