@karate17 I use Princeton Review & 5 Steps. They are pretty good, and this is my favorite site for studying Chem https://apchemistrynmsi.wikispaces.com/AP+Chemistry+Class+Lecture+Notes+AND+instructional+videos
does anyone have any access to any released practice exams for the newest AP Chem exam?
@College123college I have the same issue, please help!
Does anyone have information on safety and the Material Safety Data Sheet? I’m self-studying, and I don’t have notes on this material. Thanks in advance(:
@airyboy From what I’ve gathered, it seems to me that you are a really focused, academically-drive student, and you would work very hard to do well in AP Chem, no matter how many hours of work you have. Because of that, I think it would be a great idea for you to take the class. I finished AP Chem when I was a junior, like you will be, and I had no previous chemistry background, unlike you. I’m going to be straightforward and say that the class was difficult, but with enough effort I am sure you could get an A, which I am guessing is your goal. I ended up with a low A both semesters. If you decide to enroll in the class, I would try to use some online help websites maybe over the summer to give you an even better chemistry foundation. These websites include: Bozeman science on youtube, CrashCourse on youtube, Khan academy, and maybe an AP review book from Princeton Review or 5 Steps to a 5. Good luck! I highly recommend you take the class because it will not only look good to colleges, but it is also interesting and informative.
Man, this thread is dead.
Hello, I’m the ap chem exam pretty soon. I was wondering if I could have any feedback from people who took the test last year and 2014 what the multiple choice will be like?
Hello, I am taking the AP Chemistry Exam soon, and I was wondering for the FRQs, if you write the right answer and then say something wrong, will you lose full credit on the question?
Studying for ap check exam & found this. I’ve gotten a lot of helpful strategies this year, some of which may or may not help you.
1- always read and take notes on the chapter that coincides with the lesson, even if it isn’t homework. ESPECIALLY do the example problems in the book.
2- my chemistry teacher took problems off the web and used them in her tests. So literally just look up chapter practice tests online and do them to study. One time I had literally already seen half the test.
3- FRQs FRQs FRQs. Start doing them over winter break. Do like one every day. It’s only like 10-20 of you time and you’ll kill the exam.
4- know the basics. Basic: polyatomic ions & charges, solubility rules, important vocab. It’s not worth losing points for something you should already have memorized.
The multiple choice in the Princeton review book seems to be pretty indicative of the new exam. I’ve worked hard in this class and I made a 5 on a pre-2014 chemistry exam so I hope I can replicate that success Monday!
Lul 20 wrong on MC for the first PR test. Hopefully the FRQs aren’t hard on monday XD
If anyone has the Princeton Review book, why is the explanation for mc #29 in practice test two talking about entropy when the question is about enthalpy.
I think it’s an error because the heat is released from the reaction not absorbed. But I could be wrong here.
@rob8272 That’s what I thought too because I put A as my answer.
@megzyface Solubility rules are not on the AP exam.
I scored 5 on the AP chem exam last year and have been extensively involved in chem-related things since then. Feel free to ask me questions about the test or specific questions.
Also – DO NOT USE PREP BOOKS FOR PRACTICE TESTS. All of them contain varying degrees of errors and are minimally correlated to the new exam.
Is form B more difficult than form A? Which concepts comprise a majority of the test? I just need to get a 3. Thanks!
@swiftninja I actually took the makeup test (Form B). It is the same difficulty.
@1golfer1 did you pass the test? What do you think helped you the most in preparation for the test?
Which practice tests helped you? Still have one day to go…
@megzyface which practice tests helped you? still have one day at hand…
