How do the AP classes work in college? As in, if I passed the AP exam and class, how does that affect my college career. In particular, how will it affect me if I'm a transfer student. How many credits will I get and will the GPA transfer to my college? So if I got an A on a class in high school would it be an A in college for my transfer GPA?

The classes I took and passed were:
AP US History
AP Psychology
And I also took History of Rock at a Community college my senior year

Thanks in advance for any help!

Generally colleges award general college units for AP classes, sometimes credit for a specific class such as Calculus (you can look up specifics at colleges you are thinking about - search for “AP credit”) but I’m not aware of any that use HS classes in calculating transfer GPA. The class at a CC is likely a different story; when you apply to transfer they will ask for transcripts from all previous colleges attended and you’ll send in a transcript from the CC that they’ll use to calculate your xfer GPA.

Most colleges calculate your college GPA as a student there based only on classes taken at the college, not from xfer credit, summer school classes taken elsewhere, etc. So if you go to a CC for 2 years and then xfer to UCLA your UCLA GPA is based only on classes taken at UCLA (and other UC schools, a slight exception to the rule of not importing grades from other schools).
