AP credits killing me

I'm a junior transfer. I've been told that if i obtain 130 or more units after my senior year, I cannot take classes at UC Berkeley in the regular semesters. I want to stay an extra semester but for that to happen I need to take two(2) 13 unit semesters and two (2) 14 unit semesters with nothing in summer between jr. and sr. year.

My AP credits from high school are forcing me to take such a light course load if I want to stay the extra semester. Is there any way to nullify the AP credits so they don't count toward my total unit count? I took the equivalent classes at CC (ie. Math 1 for AP Calc)....anything I can do?

I thought AP credits don’t count if you don’t want them to? My counselor told me that they can only help you and not hurt you.

Can someone confirm this?

ya i was under the notion that ap units don’t matter until you need them to…like fill in breadth and stuff but maybe i’m wrong

If you don’t need AP credits, then your college won’t count them. You won’t be disadvantaged by AP credits. Only UC credits apply towards the unit count.

Last time I went into drop in, the counselor told me that she had to count them and she knew I wanted to stay an extra semester, she said I had to take a low unit load and that I couldn’t do anything for the AP credits…I called the counseling office and they told me the same thing you guys.

So much for setting up an appointment with her…who are some good counselors?

not L&S ones basically. they’re all rather ■■■■■■■■ and blunt. i asked a question to one before and she replied with a yes/no response. it wasn’t even a yes or no question.

Katie and Mark are good
