my school is dumb and scheduled a lot of the one class AP's at the same time. which should i take? i already got prevented from taking ap euro because of physics so i dont want to not have a social studies. at the same time i love french and dont want to drop it.

reasons to choose ap economics:
-i heard from last year's seniors that the teacher is awesome and the class is alot of fun
-many of my friends are in this class period
-i want to learn about economics
-if i dont take AP ill have to take regular economics, which will have a lot of drinkers and idiots in it
-i might be able to do ap french independent study

reasons to choose french:
-ive always liked french and done well in it
-i know the teacher and she's cool
-i want to be fluent in french
-the girl i like will be taking ap french
-there is a france trip during spring break
-two of my best friends are taking ap french

any thoughts, in terms of college admissions, fun, work load? im taking four other AP's at the moment, plus one of these. thanks

I’d go with French; language APs are always very impressive. Econ is also a doable self-study if you want to learn both.

I’d go with French, It’s easier to self study Econ if you really have to.

I agree with the other two posters that you should take AP French. You can self-study economics for a few weeks and still receive a 5. :)

I was sort of in the same situation as you. I could have either picked AP Government or AP German. Ultimately, I chose German lol.

bump
im leaning towards ap french. any last thoughts before i change my schedule on monday?

The only problem I would have with dropping AP Econ is that a lot of top schools require 4 years of social studies to be competitive in admissions, whereas many schools say 3 years a foreign language is okay (I’m assuming youre a rising senior with 3 years of French already under your belt).

French is a lot more impressive than economics. I opted for AP Spanish Lit over AP Physics and I don’t regret it one bit.

I would go with french. AP economics is a great course but it isn’t as helpful as getting that year of college french out of the way. There is also something incredibly motivational about being in a class with someone you like, as in you always are eager to get there.

True, not having a social studies course is a downside but that’s the only one. French is still the better option IMO

Francais, bien sur.
