AP English Comp. self study?

I basically have a teacher sponsering my AP english self-study project, but she doesnt have the time to really "teach" much, aside from criticing essays and so on. What should I do? I have no idea how to approach this, and she wants a specific plan. Should I just work on essays? Any books I need to read? I have the entire year for this, so I'll have the time for pretty much anything.

Thanks guy!!!

If this is just English Language, you don’t really need to study if you’re already a good writer. Learn how to write clear and relevant essays under timed conditions.

What I’m looking for is some suggestions on a course outline of sorts. Right now I have a free period in the library reading the things I enjoy and not nessesarily what will benefit me for the exam. I dont have a class to study for, I’ve never written one of these essays in my life and have no idea what is required of me.

If anyone could at least state how they cover material in thier own classes that would be very helpful. The teacher I’m working with isnt taking control because Im pushing for this and she has a ton of work to do as it is.

Do you read novels?
where can I find literary criticism?
Is there a list of supplementary reading?
essay promts?
