I'm gonna start self-studying ap english lnguage and composition. I write very well, but don't have an exensive reading background. I have a few questions. I'm in Junior HOnors English, but we basically do nothing in class. So,

1.) how should i go about self-studying this?

2.) What books are the best? Barrons, Cliffs, Princeton REview, or Kaplan??

3.)What about a reading list, and should i analyze the books, like ith sparksnotes?

4.)which ones did you do in you AP english LANGUAGE class, and do you recommend it? (ie, good for test)

5.)Also, which review books haave the most accurate tests?

6.) any tips for the test?

Thanks 4 this!!!!

I'm going to bump this because I have the same question (self-studying as well). The questions on the collegeboard site look really easy, just like an extended SAT verbal test, but some perspective on prep books would be much appreciated nevertheless.

I was in a class that prepped for this exam last semester. We took a practice AP exam, and the multiple choice is basically an extended critical reading section, as you said. The writings are somewhat more complex than the SAT II writing's "choose one side" essay, and may require you to analyze a poem. My teacher said that last year, there was a prompt that asked students to state a controversial topic and debate it. They had to give both sides equal time in the limelight in order to get full points. I'm not sure about prep books; I haven't found any yet. Anyone else?

Cliff notes for AP Lang. You might need to read Elements of Arguments for the Argument analysis part. for the AP Lang exam, u usually analyze prose, not poems.
