AP History!!!!!

what AP history textbooks do you all use? We have tindall and shi,

<a href="http://www.ecampus.com/bk_detail.asp?isbn=0393973395&referrer=yah04%5B/url%5D">http://www.ecampus.com/bk_detail.asp?isbn=0393973395&referrer=yah04</a></p>

AMerica: a narrative history , and the authors CANNOT write. They just pour you facts without connections in old english, stuff kinda like "and the sun of Abraham's soul would never set in the eyes of an america so burderned by the effects of war, as was the result of the aforementioned outcome" blah, blah, blah. THe book is so bad that they stopped printing it altogether years ago cuz teachers stopped ordering them.

ANyways, I am considering getting a new AP hsitory text, so i will skim what is in my school text, and then read out of the new text I bought (b/c the school tests are in depth and not something REA or PR will answer).

So far people have recommended American PAgenent and AMerican history, a narrative by ALan Brinkely.

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0072936703/102-6987271-6584914?v=glance&n=283155&n=507846&s=books&v=glance%5B/url%5D">http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0072936703/102-6987271-6584914?v=glance&n=283155&n=507846&s=books&v=glance</a></p>

AMerican pagent seems to be tedious. I need a text that's written in MODERN lanugage and instead of giving you facts in an annoying "
poetic langauge," gives you CONNECTIONS. for those of you that have the one by ALan Brinkely, would you recommend it?

also, what text DO YOU have?????? would you recommend it?

anybody willing to help?
thanks so much, (sorry for a long post)
grace

i didnt use any. our teacher was amazing and made a bunch of perfectly designed outlines. then i just used the princton review.

We use the American Pageant aka Bailey. Compared to other textbooks that I've used (Enduring Vision for example), I like it. It is interesting to read and easy to follow.

Does anybody use tindall/shi or the one by ALan Brinkley??

We use American Pageant. Its good.

My class used the Brinkley one. I took that class 2 years ago but I'm pretty sure it's still the same textbook.

Im reading currently the American Journey. I would say its quite good in giving the reader exactly what it needs. Sometimes a gives a little more detail then is needed, but thats what most big textbooks do.

ANYONE EVER HEAR OF ENDURING VISION?!?!?! Thats the book our class used last year. However, if you read princeton review during April, it's a sure way to a 4 :)

I use the American Nation by uhm, this Columbia graduate guy. Garraty, I think? Its pretty good - I just forget the events as soon as its over. Ugh. It sucks.

we use alan brinkley and its very good. it gives a lot of details but in a very organized fashion. i would highly recommend this one.

Garraty's American Nation is an excellent resource for AP United States History. If you are worried about not knowing enough on the social/intellectual history front, then the Enduring Vision would make a terrific secondary source. Good Luck!

We use American Pageant also. Yeah, I must agree that the authors write in a very understandable style, storybook-ish way. Plus it's so much more interesting than my last year's World History textbook, so I've actually read some of it.

Textbooks aside, the REA is a good prep. Highly recommended.

One more thing, the American Pageant is also used for AP courses because of its initials....just kidding.

We used A People and A Nation. Some of the chapters were horrible others not so bad. The test questions for the corresponding chapters are way harder than the AP exam questions so it really prepares you for the exam.

I also recommend Amsco's Prep book

The Enduring Vision is really good, but very long.
