if anyone has any tips or ideas about the appeal process please discuss below. Is it worth it? Do they typically not prefer appeal letters?
My friend wrote an appeal guide a few years ago. It’s been circulating in this forum, but here’s a link in case: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Kj4YfiPs5nsgUPEp0DOQWRHGI-OwsMwc6xFkA1hWSTM/pub
It’s apparently helped ~10 people she’s sent it to appeal a waitlist and rejection successfully.
Sorry, weird link. Try this: http://goo[DOT]gl/Kv022c where [DOT] is just a .
Hmm, the link seems to not be working. Maybe you could PM it to me?
It’s a 1 in 20 chance you’d get in. So 5% chance of appealing working
Were you waitlisted or rejected? Someone told me that universities view appeals differently depending on which one it is
Rejected @ferdinand32
I see, I’m sorry to hear about that. I would say that the appeal process will only really work if you have new and compelling information to bring forward that demonstrates something you didn’t bring up in your application. They’ve already picked a decision after reviewing what you have in your application, so if you have something new that really adds to it, then I would go ahead and do it

I do have new information to offer, but I am also aware of the possibility that they will recieve an overwhelming amount of appeal letters.

A member named “CantQuit” successfully appealed last year and posted some helpful information.
If anyone should prevail on appeal, it’s you, uwhusky1997.
Thank you so much for your help, everyone. I will most definitely appeal and I will keep everyone updated on the results!
You could go to CC and transfer but I’m sure you don’t want to waste time at a CC
Agreed @uwhusky1997 - I was really rooting for you! Hope your appeal is successful Feel free to PM me if you want someone to look over your essay or anything.
Thank you @Coriander23 I’m not too expectant but I’m still going to work hard and stay hopeful!
Does anyone know how many people usually appeal? I want to follow through, but I am also taking into consideration the fact that so many more people applied this year and the admissions decisions were already hard enough… I bet the last thing they want to deal with is appeals.
I don’t know much about the appeal process, but I would definitely recommend appealing if your stats are remotely close to the normal averages and you can articulate a compelling reason for them to reconsider.
I have heard stories from a fair amount of people who have appealed and been accepted.
@JuanitaRebel what types of reasons would you consider compelling?
Don’t worry about wasting their time. Appeals are part of what Admissions staff are paid to do. If you’ve got new information, such as test scores, grades, big life event… tell them about it. You’re in-state, you’ve demonstrated serious interest in the institution by applying to a branch campus. There are slots set aside for a few of those appeals. The worst they can do is say no and you spend a year at the Tacoma campus. Good luck!
I have no new scores and grades that have changed but I do have a decently compelling story to offer… I’m hoping for the best
