Good morning everybody!
I recently submitted an appeal letter and a new transcript to Rutgers on Thursday. They already received my new transcripts and I think they will probably receive the letter today or later this week, as it was mailed. I’m just really nervous about this and I’m constantly checking my RU status. So I guess I have a few questions about decisions regarding appeals and reconsiderations:
- How long does it usually take? Should I expect it to take around the same amount of time it took for my initial decision (exactly 11 days)?
- Will they send an email notifying me of an update? I am just wondering because I never received an email telling me to check the portal. I just checked it everyday.
- Are the vast majority of reconsideration applications not successful??
Thank you all very much for reading this. I am just immensely nervous and do not want to face rejection again. I truly wish to attend Rutgers.
I am in the same boat as you. I submitted my appeal late May and it is now July. I have called numerous times and I feel like they are dragging their feet with all my documents. However, because of how late it has been they have allowed me to send my summer courses to strengthen my appeal/reconsideration. Finally, after my most recent call during last week an admission official informed me I should hear a response towards the end of this week or sometime next week. On the phone I was told we would be notified by mail, but then another person told me our status would change on the portal. Also yes the vast majority from what I’ve heard are not successful (but fingers crossed for the both of us). Again I feel you the on the fact of not wanting to face rejection again. Good Luck !!
Hi there! Glad to see I’m not the only one taking this route. Your answer was super informative. If they took this long to get back to you, then I can only imagine how long they would take to get back to myself, as I only reapplied 6 days ago. I called admissions today to see whether or not they received the letter, as I’m super anxious about this process and didn’t want a fluke to delay the process. They didn’t really directly answer my question and pretty much told me the same thing they told you: I would be notified via mail or my status would just change. I need to figure out how to forget about it for a couple of weeks. I am quite late to the game, so I wonder how this is going to turn out. I wish you the best of luck as well! I have a good feeling about you getting in!
I received my rejection from the business school in early April and appealed that day. I hear back around 2 weeks later with an offer of admission into the school of arts and sciences.
Just wanted to update you guys that my appeal decision was released and I’m proud to say I am a scarlet knight!! Hope to see you guys there. Best of luck!
Ahhhhh! I don’t even know you but I am sooooo happy for you!!! You will do amazing things at RU, okay? You wanted it this badly and you persevered and consequently succeeded!!!
That’s great!!! I am so happy for you! Even though it’s not RBS, I hear that you have access to some of the same resources and opportunities as an SAS student.
Update! I opened up my RU status and was rejected again through reconsideration. I’m currently taking two more classes and I want to try again, but it feels futile at this point. Best of luck to everyone next semester, wherever you are going!
Hi, I am trying to get reconsidered after this semester ends and I had a few questions. How long did the Rutgers New Brunswick schools remain open for after the candidate’s reply date? My semester won’t end until mid May and I probably won’t receive my grades until towards the end so I wanted to know if I have enough time to appeal or not. And do you guys mind sharing a little bit of what you wrote about in your appeals so I can get an idea? Thanks!
Hi there. Some actually stayed open until about the beginning of August, such as SAS and SEBS.
