I applied to transfer to Michigan State and I got denied. But the reality is they denied me before they even had all my info.
I am a currently a second semester freshman. Last semester I didn’t do so hot for a variety of legit excuses (cockroach’s and mold in my dorm room, played soccer for a coach who could care less about grades 8 hours from home) I got a 2.8 GPA. Got out of that school ASAP. Now I’m at a way better school but in reality I want to be at Michigan State.
I applied in December and didn’t have the math or CSE class (I got the English credit done from high school) I didn’t even have the 28 credits done I need to transfer!!!
I am planning on appealing. Is it worth my time?? Do I have a good chance of getting in? I’m working super hard this semester for at least a 3.5. Can I tell admissions to wait for this semester to be done or will they want to have filled all the transfer spots by May/ April time???
(Also multiple people who I called in the admissions office, over the phone, told me I won’t hear about whether I got in or not until the end of the school year. So this caught me by guard) PLZ HELP!!
“Is it worth my time??” (to appeal)
IMHO, no.
“Do I have a good chance of getting in?”
IMHO, no. Not at the current time.
Your reasons for doing poorly aren’t IMHO legitimate reasons. Things go wrong in life for everyone. We need to get past the downsides (eg, cockroaches in a dorm room) and get the job done anyway.
My advice: Do as well as you can this semester and first semester next year, and apply again next year.
Your appeal won’t do anything. You didn’t have the requirements, and they denied you.
Bring your GPA up and apply as a junior level transfer, making sure to follow all requirements
But what if I have the requirements after this semester?
Hey i just wanted to post on here and say my appeal worked! Mostly because they realized they made a decision before I even had all the requirements for transferring!! So whoever reads this, appeals work!! If you fall in the same category as me, give it a shot!! they will most likely give you another shot!! taking the time to think and write out an email will most likely make them realize that you really want to be a spartan!!! go green, go white baby!!!
Congrats! Who did you email? I’m thinking of emailing inquiring about the possibility of fall admission… I’ve been accepted for spring but REALLY want to go this fall!
Congrats Sarah! Good for you and thank you for taking the time to post your update!
@Pearlzie i’d Say you should call and ask the admissions office! If they aren’t sure, ask for the name and email of your admissions counselor and you can probably email them. Don’t worry too much though if it takes them a while to respond, mine didn’t email me back for a week and a half and I was beginning to freak out!
