I applied to Michigan State from an in-state community college as a transfer. In high school my GPA was a 3.5 and my ACT was a not-so-impressive 25. I got a 4.0 for my first semester in college and given my high school stats, I really didn’t think I wouldn’t get in.
Until I checked the portal today only to find that my English class did not have an MSU equivalent, therefore they could not admit me. I feel so stupid over this whole thing. My counselor said I was on the right track but I really should’ve checked with the course equivalency database, that was my mistake. But I’m considering an appeal because by the end of this semester, I’ll at least have an equivalent math class. And then maybe I’ll take the English class over the summer.
I’m wondering if I’m even allowed to appeal for this reason. I will probably call the admissions office tomorrow but I’m freaking out about this whole thing right now. My dad is kicking me out next fall so I can’t go to community college for another year before applying again. Anyway, does anyone know about this? Has anyone had any experience with something like it?
Thanks in advance.
